Ianto as Pathfinder

Another reason I don't write much: these daydreams are Very Specific.
Like, this one started as doing protective magic tattoos on an appreciative Ianto Jones
but now it developed a plot wherein we are on Golarion and we get accused of worshipping an evil god of pain
and therefor he has to strip and show his tattoos in a crowded temple court
and go through trials
to determine if all that is evidence of worshipping The Midnight Lord, or Calistria, or Shelyn.
... pain or sex or beauty&love, basically, but with elaborate backstory and lore etc.
And I think at some point that daydream has an audience of one
because the fantasy world theology and deep lore from like three foot of setting books
is integral to the outcome.
... Ianto with tattoos is going to be slightly more popular, but mostly when paired with Jack, who is the most difficult one to get to Planet Where True Resurrection Is A Thing.
I also want to write Lisa as a Paladin who everyone thinks used to be a graveknight because when she tried to explain her experiences it sounded a lot like undeath to them.
And Ianto should date a nonbinary tiefling. As part of his ongoing What Would Jack Harkness Do lifestyle. ... obviously not Everything Jack would do, but, Ianto stepped into a certain role when he joined Torchwood Three, and it was for a specific set of reasons, so take the constraints off and who do you get? James Bond and Jack being high on his list of fantasy role models, but not actually essential to his day to day life, leaving him with space to potentially think less well of himself in comparison. But there's ways Jack wasnt a good boss and Ianto has potential to be better.
And then with the audios there's ways Ianto did not exactly have complete freedom of choice about joining Torchwood One, and any decent Restoration spell would get back missing memories, since that's basically what level loss is. So he'd have a whole lot of new memories to deal with, and have to reevaluate himself.
And if it's Cardiff and Jack then he'd just button it down and be a good Torchwood agent and head for the next crisis, but in a wildly new setting he'd lose the landmarks and the locks.
... which does not *necessarily* result in shagging as many non humans and part humans as pass the Harkness Test, but it seems like fun if it did.
of course first he'd be Sad for a while. Long while, likely. But there's nothing like waking up on another planet that is also roughly a hundred years behind on Earth time (because people do travel from Golarion to WWI and back) to make it clear that going home is going to take some lateral thinking at best.
And Golarion needs everyone willing to hold back every apocalypse. The world nearly ends a minimum of twice a year. He could find a new duty easy.
Of course the relative timeline thing isn't necessarily simples, since there's also a crashed starship that was apparently crewed by humans.
But Jack in one of the books (Twilight Streets) realises he's not sure if his own ancestors were humans, and there's other very human looking species out there in that 'verse, so, human might be a more inclusive description than we'd think.
I've seen fics where Jack's sadness tour of the universe was paralleled by Ianto waking up u expectedly dead and doing the same to find him, compare contrast style, but my ideas of what he would do are... not so monogamous. I mean Ianto knows he doesnt do casual (says The House That Jack Built, and the epic level dedication demonstrated on TV), but he did jump in to shagging Jack to feel better (says audio Broken) so there's precedent.
I like dropping Torchwood into Pathfinder because a lot of the creepier things they do ie anything with retcon is no longer relevant, or effective. There's too many antidotes and a closer to level playing field. So they might read this as the kind of chaos that happens if they dont defend those conceptual borders as hard as they defended the rift. Or they might have to change their minds a bit. Or, obviously, with a team around, both.
... hmmm, also, have had an idea bout current location of Torchwood Four. That would be all OCs though.
Anyone from our time would have to take one of the variants from the Technology Guide, because all the other rules assume you grow up with magic, not tech. Another way to put Torchwood at sea.
Unless they drop in near Numeria, where their superior technological knowledge would threaten the Technic League, but the League's magic would keep them dangerous.
And the Worldwound is up around there, so there's a hole between dimensions handy to fall out of.
Most things that fall out of it are demons from the Abyss though. If post House of the Dead Ianto comes in through that door, he is going to have some Questions.
Dating a tiefling might be part of answering those questions. Every Tiefling has had to deal with the whole So You Might Be A Bit Of A Demon, Now What? Embracing difference is always a good answer to Now What.
My plot bunnies are always too far from source to make good AUs but too close to make sense without canon. Extensive tie in canon at that.
Ah well.
