Stupid dream

I hate how my anxiety dreams can get so much worse
by just going 'haha, you have no mask now!'
Like it's then not just
dreaming you met Obadiah Stane in a tiny local cinema and he recognised you as a friend of Tony Stark's
which is a cool dream with a plot
it is instead
and then suddenly you have no mask
because clearly those things are so unstable that can happen spontaneously
and everything you check that looks like a mask isnt
and the pharmacy is opposite the cinema so surely you can get a mask there
but you have to cross the town's busiest road
the long way through a car park
and there's buses
that wont stop for slow people
and they've replaced all the green man crossings with something more ableist
which does actually happen but doesnt belong in that dream geography
and then
when you get in there
the pharmacy now sells salads and summer picnic stuff
and upon asking
one (1) type
of unsuitable mask
is on clearance sale
and you have to buy that
while someone calls you ableist slurs
for idiot.
I used to get dreams with a plot! Start with meeting a guy with a power armor and end with a giant fight scene! But no, now the guy is almost irrelevant, because there's crowds and cars and no masks.
In other news I listened to the first audio in the latest Torchwood Big Finish set
(which seems to be a reskinned Jack adventure, which feels a way)
and they specified they were wearing PPE to wander around the disaster zone
but they also specified it didnt work
so, you know, nightmare fuel.
(It was very adventure but I'm not sure all the corners work plot wise. The alien stuff requires no plausibility but the human stuff bumped my disbelief some.)
I think the bigger the scale of the plot the less plausible I find it because it bumps into more things.
Also adventure stories keep sending one tiny struggling team instead of making a whole working institutional framework, not just Torchwood, lots of stories. And that means they're failing most people already. If the team is in a basement in Cardiff trying to keep Cardiff safe from occasional incursions, okay, fine, scale plausible, but once they're global they're... not.
I am grumpy. I'll go away and do something more productive instead.
