Doctor Who: Dot and Bubble

I did not see that ending coming.
And then I felt kind of bad for not seeing the parts and pieces of that ending.
Doctor Who is not a subtle show.
But just when you think it's all about people getting ate by really slow slimy slugs because they're letting themselves get piloted around by their little information bubble, boom, racism kills the lot of them.
In retrospect those social bubbles were obvious, but in advance, yikes didnt see.
Doctor Who got me.
Recurring themes this season include: the stuff that looks like covid trauma, seeing mummy only on screen, no hugs, isolation. Waiting to be collected. Being puppeted by their systems which turn out to have an agenda. I mean that's a lot of the same parts as Space Babies and Boom from different angles. These rich kids were sent away for a better life together but they were just as isolated as the Space Babies. Seems like a theme loop back to foundlings and adoption.
... mining it for theme feels a bit like ducking the ouch of that ending though.

Mr Dr Science says this is the only time he can remember where the Doctor out-and-out *fails*, where he doesn't save *anyone*. Can you think of any other?

I noticed immediately how very white everyone was in Lindy's bubble (because Doctor Who really tries to be inclusive, so I figured the all-white had to mean something), but the ending was still brutal. Like they peeled back the layers of monstrosity one by one.
