Jan. 5th, 2025 05:16 pmJust went to eat my daily vitamin and discovered I had logged it as skipped? At a time of day I am reasonably certain I was asleep? So my pill alarm has become another thing asleep me can make shut up without doing the inportant bit.
I forgot to go to bed today until I had been awake most of the clock. And then I had a delivery due. So that wasn't my smartest idea.
But I played Wrath of the Righteous, waited for Galfrey (ugh so slow Aivu was right), did the Midnight Fane on the highest difficulty level so far, sort of Daring Plus, and even Playful Darkness only took me three tries. I finally figured out a way to use Pillar of Life or whatever it is called, the glowy pillar that heals you and harms undead. So I made a sort of wall or obstacle course of pillars for the bad thing to move through, between channelling energy to hit it. It didnt want to go in the light so it slightly changed where it went. Would have worked even better if one of the pillars hadn't decided to be up above our heads for reasons best known to code. But still. Didn't have the right party at all, couldn't hit it with most of them, couldn't grab grapple which I have relied on heavily, was actually throwing holy water at it sometimes just on general principles of it works a tiny bit, and, still won the fight.
Only had to raise half the party as well. Got plenty of diamonds and scrolls for it.
... yes I'm sure they didn't like that part, but on attempt two I got to discover that TPK is the end of the fight so Death's Door makes everyone stand up and be slightly not dead so you get a sort of very brief second try? But Daeran went down first so, very very brief.
Also this time I'm discovering why Stealth is actually useful, since you can apparently with high enough stealth cross an empty room in plain sight to go stab someone. Which is ridiculous. They weren't even invisible. Imagine, just a couple of rogues in adventurer clothes and magic cloaks and robes being all colors and they walk right up to you. Stealthily. Somehow.
... yes it would have helped to understand the value of a basic game mechanic before, but consider, I think I was on my second play through before I noticed what the button does, and the button is clearly labelled whenever you look at your characters.
So, anyways, am 15th level and normal people such as you get in the real world are only up to 5th so I guess ridiculous powers are what we do now.
Woljif's 24hour buffs remain awesome but I only just now remembered to give someone True Seeing, and the game very much assumes you remember to have True Seeing on at least your archer. Woljif gets True Seeing later than the divine magic set so I shouldn't just rely on him.
I think my character is romancing Daeran, Aru and Galfrey, G is saying things I don't remember from other plays. But only D actually spends time with the KC? And likes it? I realise Aru's whole thing is Complicated but I am not having fun repeating 'there's no such thing as thought crime' until she stops having a panic attack. And if G is into the KC she sure has a funny way of showing it.
I did keep my title this time but had to be slow and boring and not snark so at what cost?
ANYway.
I saved for the night when we got to the new act and then discovered it was 0930.
Not my best plan.
Should do something else with what is left of today.
