Doctor Who audios
Sep. 29th, 2025 04:54 amToday I listened to
https://www.bigfinish.com/releases/v/doctor-who-the-seventh-doctor-new-adventures-volume-01-1882
7, Roz Forrester, and Chris Cwej
The other audios with those companions are listed as novel adaptations so I guess this set picked some good stories to adapt.
Clever and emotional stories, I rated this set 5/5 despite having no prior attachment to these companions.
I also liked

Broken Memories
4 different Doctors, 4, 6, 8, 7. 4 travels with Sarah Jane and 6 with Mel.
I gave these stories 4.5/5 though I'm not sure, could be 5 or 4 if I think about them a different way up.
The thing is the set ends all the stories in a sort of unresolved way, since the new monsters bit means we already know the Doctor doesn't sort them out once and for all, and for the stories involving the Silence, we know he's not even going to remember there was anything to sort out. And that gives them a different sort of tension and vibe than usual. There's a win, sort of, ish, but it doesn't work out *well* in any story. And that could be good storytelling or it could be not satisfying Doctor Who, depending how I shake the stories. Bit duck rabbity.
It's like I liked when Mel figured out what was going on with her story, but the amount of story that happened after that point was basically *sad*, and also felt like a lot of non endings stacked together in some ways. Not the usual manner of things. Which is an opportunity for a different set of storytelling, but.
I think in a different mood I would rate these a lot lower but I was fine with the degree of open ended they were today.
Good sets, left me wanting a slightly different set of stories.
