Crime Traveller DVDs
Feb. 2nd, 2006 07:30 pmI been watching 'Crime Traveller'
strange 90s thing
girl inherits time machine from her father
works for the police to fund her further research and try and perfect it
maverick policeman hits upon novel notion of using it to investigage murders
(they fight crime!)
so far he's managed to get himself shot, and accidentally frame her for the murder they were investigating
he's such a prat, but he thinks he's all that
is very annoying
and she should be the star, it should be her story, but she flaps around being whiny and tearful and getting locked up. I mean it started well, the first time travel thing was just her, but after he turns up she becomes the voice of 'we can't!' and its rather annoying.
and they've set up the laws of time so nothing can be changed. So its sort of anti-Tru Calling, except before Tru. They spend the first two episodes trying to change the past based on available information, and the story keeps twisting to make it impossible.
also theres this thing where they have to be back in the time machine at the exact moment they first time travelled or they loop forever, so theres lots of 'oh noes! run!'
and they have laws of time that erase some physical things but not memory. Like, making a bet with prior knowledge from time travel is paradox, so the betting slip gets wiped. But his memory isn't paradox??? And when they go back to their present he got un-shot (which was only a flesh wound, so it wasn't a plot point yet). She says they were in parallel timelines or something and once they get back to normal he never was shot. But that makes no sense since everything they actually *do* in the past is witnessed by others, remembered, leaves physical evidence (which they got arrested for) and generally was real.
Only two episodes in. But there were only ever 8.
I'm currently trying to decide if it sucks. It seems to have all the elements of terrible, but... I'm still going to watch them all...
