I read another article about creationism vs evolution arguments

and had a thought

do you think in the Buffyverse evolution is so clearly right?

I mean, the science there denied the existence of demons for a long time, so doesn't account for them.

and there are beings that call themselves gods, and magic that can turn things into other things, and people that are part demon.

would all that fit in the theory???

reckon they'd need a slightly modified "Species happen because of evolution, immigration from other dimensions that may or may not have the same natural laws as here, and people mucking about with magic. oh, and wishes. Vengeance demons, mostly. Making many more species of toads and worms and that. And sometimes visiting gods or Old Ones muck things about a bit.
But, you know, *basically* through evolution. Most of the time. We think."

I suspect it works (if Joss and Co have bothered to spend as much time thinking about it as I have) in a similar way to how things work in my fantasy universe. Ie normal Darwinian stuff for regular animals, plants and people, then magick, Lamarkism and acts of gods for all the stuff that normal folks prefer to overlook.
