Mar. 16th, 2006 11:22 pmHave now finished watching through the first season of Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased)
way to work the premis
interesting stuff
also, interesting cast
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0682577/
including Gareth Thomas and Richard Ridings
and Jennifer Calvert who turns out to have been in SG1
I'm all sleepy and not thinking of good words for it
but this series was very... British. Interesting. Surreal. Full of characters that aren't your larger than life heroes, on account of being actually kind of lame, yet interesting and getting stuff done.
And the way it worked the twisted comedy was great. Plus when it went to serious violence and darkness and really messy death it just had that much more contrast so it was shocking, but also kind of... cartoony, so the random decapitations or whatever were less puke inducing. But it was still very creepy whenever someone beat up Jeannie.
Jeannie was a bit of a let down actually. I mean she did all this kicking and punching, so it looks like she gets to be strong, but since it never (outside the initial teaser) actually helps... not so useful.
But then the good guys lurch around between disasters in general really. Lots of getting beat up. But winning anyway. And, by the end, making the right choices, which is harder.
Interesting freaky weird and funny series.
