Aug. 5th, 2006 09:31 pmI'm watching Tremors on ITV4.
I just read 'Crafty Screenwriting' and I find myself watching the craft in this. Because it might just be a silly little creature feature, but it is rather well put together.
They show us these two losers, they show them decide to leave, they show them not be tempted by work/money/beer, but they'll stop to help a 'friend' they don't seem to like much. Says a ton about them right there. And then it all starts going wrong.
"We decided to leave this place just one damn day too late"
And so we have the theme of the movie before we even have a big scary.
I also love the first view of the creature, the thing wrapped around the axle. Because that's a perfectly reasonable scary thing right there, and yet, when the actual big scary turns up, much bigger problems.
Nicely put together.
Now they're up to the first commercial break. Which works out at a good place, "Do you think there are more of them" I think it was.
Also, my TV looks way better from here than it does from three feet further forwards. I'm going to have to rearrange all my furniture so I can sit back here better. Don't know what I'm going to do with the piano. Current plan is to see if I can use it to put the nice flat TV on the lid, stick it up the end of the room behind the TV. Except it might be too large to do that and open the living room door.
... They're advertising Snakes on a Plane.
In the middle of Tremors.
*Nice* match :-)
