Jan. 27th, 2007 12:23 amMPreg might be considered strange, crack addled, all that
BUT
it is *infinitely* preferable to women that only exist long enough to have twins and die tragic deaths
... and if there was only one fic this ever happened in, that would be much less disturbing.

it would also help if people didn't seem to think that having started on one impossibility they might as well throw them all in at once. It sort of splats the plausibility to have the whole thing magically sped up for convenience and result in a near-instant adult with immortality and super powers, just for instance.
... I just realised how many comics I've read with that plot.
... *Superboy* was the result of that plot.
... *headdesk*

Date: 2007-01-27 04:05 am (UTC)Superboy was a fun thing. I'm sure it made a lot of clex mpreg writers very happy.
I started a few serious mpreg fics in my day, serious to the point of research and calling my sisters. But never finished any, sadly.

Date: 2007-01-27 04:13 am (UTC)... I guess the thing is sometimes it's done as a way of avoiding a story (don't want to write about kids just to have them have one) and sometimes it's done as a way of creating stories.
if 'and then there was superbaby! the end' is the whole thing, not very satisfying.

Date: 2007-01-27 04:24 am (UTC)why we write any of these? because the bunnies bites us?
half of mine are just so I stop getting nightmares about them.
... er, possibly less relevant to baby stories.

Date: 2007-01-27 05:39 pm (UTC)...come to think of it, I do get Tessa pregnant only to kill her in that. And yet, how much *cooler* the story would be if she *lived* and she and Kronos raised Duncan's kid *together*...
Hmmmm.

Date: 2007-01-27 06:28 pm (UTC)huh...
Yeeeeah... scarily I can see that.
Kronos raising a kid would end up kind of like Holtz&Connor or the Winchesters or Scary Bat God or something - really dedicated fighter daddy teaching all about the power.
But then there would be Tessa, artist lady and actual liking humans person.
... who does sculpture, which reminds me of the only good bit from that book series where the guy is really good with blades so he does killing and carving.
... I do not need other people's baby bunnies. nope.
*wanders off*

Date: 2007-01-27 10:49 pm (UTC)Tessa Noel, ass-kicking and awesome artist left bitter and pregnant after mysterious stalker followed her home and forced her in to sex, resulting in her fiancee leaving her and personal ruin;
And Kronos, rockin' immortal left half out of his mind with grief after same mysterious mortal showed up and killed his One True Love for no apparent reason.
Together, they fight crime.
(And seek vengeance on the mysterious dark man who ruined both their lives! And find healing together through art and gratuitous violence! And also sex!) It would be up in the air whether the baby was pre-immortal or not, though. It'd be harder to justify Tessa living if it was, but it would also be harder to justify Kronos not just killing them both outright.
And thank you! I couldn't resist the temptation after I read that comic.

My brain needs a nap.

... or I've got real good at repression.
Richie has a canon almost-his baby. And Duncan's girlfriend dumped him for just long enough to get pregnant. But iirc they both survived.
I think it's the 'and die' part that winds me up most.
