quite a lot of poured in mini lectures because this is what I wrote instead of an essay, after I did a bunch of research. Because obviously an essay on a detail this small would be insane.

anyone want to beta?
I need someone to tell me where I only made sense in my brain, or if my use of language gets too idiosyncratic. Places where it doesn't quite fit canon or my characterisation is off would be noted, but maybe not changed, because never-happened gives more room to play.
