Butterflies!
Sep. 15th, 2007 02:21 pmI found the butterfly that makes the storms.
It is called a Comma, Polygonia c-album. Europe, N Africa & temperate Asia.
It is sort of yellowy brown, about 5cm across, and it has raggedy edges.
... okay, so it pretty much lacks the mandelbrot patterns, but I thought it was cool.
Plus, how many butterflies are secretly punctuation?
I've been playing with the playing cards I bought at the butterfly park. On closer examination I have concluded that Butterflies of the World isn't as well drawn as Butterflies, which is annoying, because they should have much pretty. But they're both full of butterflies, so that's win. Can't mix the sets together though because the backs are different patterns.
They've all got the proper names on though, so I can find photos on the internet.
I like the 88 butterflies. Catagramma excelsior, C codomannus, Diaethria anna
The patterns on the wings look like the number 88, or if you look another way around they're kinda wonky infinity signs. Infinite butterflies!
Also one kind is white/red/black, and therefore suits my usual clothing color scheme rather well.
Whenever I look at butterflies I start thinking tattoos. Not real butterflies, though, because they're moving and that's part of being a butterfly for real. Can't make tattoos fly up. But I like butterflies as symbols and as images - they start out crawling and armour up and turn into flying beauty. Very nice.
ooooh, look atwww.goliathus.cz/en/museum-nymphalidae-8.html these!
shiny!
There's one called a Flying Handkerchief. :-)
oooh, seethrough and kinda goth Octauius Swordtail. See it's like it has a black frame and red bits and mostly you can look right through it. Like mesh clothes :-)
I can just never decide which butterflies I'd wear. I like temporary tattoos of butterflies, then you can wear them all and move them around and stuff.
Butterflies having sex looks a lot like butterflies ignoring each other, only their tails touch.
Is also pretty, because two butterflies at once.
Would make a good design.
