So, I bought ReGenesis season 1 because it was super cheap.
It's a little closer to science than the SF I usually watch. And clearly it's all about impossible things (and if they look possible it's because I'm not ignoring it well enough)(biology. scary.)
So anyways, I really like it. I mean all the characters are all kinds of different and interesting and they all have stuff going on and one of them Bob Melnikov has Asperger's and is a sweetheart and saves the day a lot and is just all kinds of yaay. And there was this thing where he was leaving to run his own lab and his boss was like 'oh, has Asperger's, he won't be able to leave, people like him can't' and a whole list of things he can't. And then he did. Because he wanted to. And then after he'd been there a while he found out it wasn't what he wanted to so he came back. So he could have gone but he didn't, so going :-p to defining him by his problems. And yet not ignoring problems. He's a bit different. But he's good at it. And the others are helpful, remind him to breathe when he gets stuttery, and are just nice at him.
He's an interesting character and does useful story things and also makes you want to hug him. Is win.
Also there was a book I read which said it was about an autistic detective, and turned out to be lying. I read it cause it sounded like a cool idea. As long as there's someone to do the more people based parts then having someone who knows details and thinks around corners is just useful. And that's exactly what he gets to do here, be part of a team and do the things he's interested in while other characters do the twisty people stuff.
All good.
So, anyway, there's also lots of other characters. Much diversity. And pretty.
And it does interesting things with having a bunch of different pictures like comic book panels so people don't have to stand behind each other and you get all the reactions. And it follows one thread of the story and then kind of rewinds and follows someone else around. Is rather cool.
Plus, plots were all twisty and twisted together by the end. And you got enough clues to see it coming, yet not in a why-can't-they-see-it-too way.
Don't read the Amazon.co.uk reviews though cause there's episode by episode descriptions that are basically all the endings. Some people don't know how to review properly.
Apparently there's also more seasons of this. But not on DVD yet? Sulk.
Wiki reckons it has been shown in the UK, on SciFi. I don't got that channel.
