Oct. 3rd, 2007 02:05 pmdid morning at college
leaving here ten minutes later means arriving at college 30 minutes later. that's a lot of minutes.
I looked in on learner support at college because I had not heard back. I get one hour support a week, only not started yet. They were trying to find out if they could help me get up to the UEA library, but apparently for insurance reasons they cannot. They could if it was a field trip but not if it's a regular, necessary, yet unscheduled part of my actual course. This to me is no sensible.
But, if I employed them with my helpful person money then they could go any place. So I leave with them the details of the job and they ask around if anyone wants to do that.
I was going to say 'neat' but it's kind of the opposite of neat really. Useful yet rather roundabout.
And I now has two applications back from the 'hermit' version of my advert. Is good.
Shall have to arrange interviews. Is less good.
I'm tired now. There was a lot of lesson today. 13 pages of notes I took. That's much typing. He does talking, I do typing... I could probably leave bits out and summarise and stuff but it takes so much longer to get my brain in the loop than it does to just let my fingers do their thing. Is why I don't use abbreviations much, it takes longer to think to use them than it does to type the big words. :eyeroll:
I did Cultural Studies before and I do reading so I have some knowledge. Trouble is I end up with my brain feeling like a suitcase after a holiday - everything gets pulled out, unpacked, used, mixed together, turned around, and by the end of the day it no fit no more. And it did fit to start with. It's like I know things, but they be at a different angle when he's talking, so I don't know them right then. And also end up going off at tangents when I find a thing I do know.
On the plus side was in the classroom where I can get internet access on my laptop. So I could stay in my seat on my computer and yet go on Blackboard and download the new handouts and look on the discussion board (which is not much used yet, but I live in hope).
How come that much listening feels like so long?
So I just came home afterwards. No shopping. Brain full.
Second way going on the bus is harder - no falling asleep. Sleep would be bad. End up in Peterborough.
But I didn't do that, so now I'm home. Yays!
... sleep now. sleep good.
