Oct. 28th, 2007 12:48 pmToday I decided to detangle my jewellery.
Because clearly this is the most urgent important thing to do.
So all my earrings are back in the earring box. Or at least all the ones I could find. I cannot find my little dangly ones with the stars. I only wore them a couple of times. I was sure where I'd put them down, but they are not there to be picked up. Nor are they in any of the bags I've used recently, or on a shelf where I could find them, or in any of the drawers in the shiny things cabinet. Sulk. So I guess I'll have to go look for some more. There probably are more, they were only from Claire's accessories. There's probably three for a pound or something. ANYway, all the earrings back in the big folding thingy, along with most of the bangles, and the swords for going in hair, and the other hair sticks, and most of the badges except for the butterflies that go on waistcoats now. And all the hair spinners are on one piece of card. I cut it up so there were enough slots. That took ages, spinning all them on. But they seem to be the main method of getting stuck together in the shiny drawer, so maybe things will be more controllable now. One can but hope.
So now there's just getting the remaining armful of necklaces and turning them into wearable individual items.
... which is quite a lot of 'just' actually, but I shall persevere.
I have soooo many shiny things, and I only ever wear them at conventions. And I'm not booked for any conventions. Which must be remedied, I know the term dates now and which days I'm studying and that.
I shall find places to go out to that require shiny thing wear. Then I'll wear a different set every time. Should take a few months to get through them all...
(the really fun thing is I think the most expensive item is the £10 very goth bead choker. Most things were only £1 each. I'm waaaay more interested in 'ooh, shiny!' than in what it is made of.)

Date: 2007-10-28 04:11 pm (UTC)Hey, if you want to wear the shiny, wear the shiny, to class if you feel like it. I'm trying to remember to wear my jewelry (of which I have way too much), but it's hard - why bother putting on earrings and necklaces and bracelets just to go to the market?
Then I keep making things just because I had an idea, and I have to either remember to wear those or find homes for them.

Date: 2007-10-28 05:26 pm (UTC)The trouble with wearing them for class is I have to take them off to type, or they'd scratch up the laptop and clank a lot.
The only reason I didn't wear necklace to class is that getting a necklace out of the drawer has recently been impossible. For next week I have a choice of turquoise, amethyst and haemetite discs on strings. I bought three almost the same cause I liked them all.
There's also a red circle on a silver chain, but red is for evenings. Blue is for daytimes.

Date: 2007-10-28 05:41 pm (UTC)Have you considered buying a necklace tree or something like that, so you can hang your necklaces up separately? That way, you can enjoy looking at them when you aren't wearing them.
Of course, I have all sorts of stuff for hanging jewelry on the walls of the bedroom, and I still don't remember to wear them. Also they get tarnished, but that's partly the smog.
