beccaelizabethSo I went looking for Tosh/Martha and found one - one! - story. and not a whole lot of Tosh/f fic in general. And if I don't count the ones with Gwen which I don't plan to read I've read it all. Annoyance. You know how long it would take to read all the Jack/Ianto? So I feel like there should be some secret store of Toshiko fic that I just don't know to look at. Yet I suspect there is not. *sigh*
Thing is, I can see how there's a slight shortage of people. I mean, I'm not interested in canon compliant Tosh/Mary because of the ending, and Gwen irritates and is also oversubscribed already, and that leaves people Tosh hasn't actually talked to. Oh, and Suzie. Who has her own ending problems.
Carys was too tangled in the creepy noncon issues with the sex alien. Lisa, while technically a female character Tosh interacted with, has... considerable issues. Though the writer part of my brain is adding up 'Tosh likes girls' and 'Tosh likes technology' and coming up with the kind of bunny that pretty much needs taking out and shooting. Episode 5 had two female characters with names, both gone by the end, neither working as Tosh dates. Although Estelle plus time travel could have potential. 1-06... there's no way to go there that isn't damn creepy. I am not thinking about that one at all. 1-07, Mary, 1-08, Suzie... but also Kathy Swanson, who was Just That Cool and there is fic with her. 1-09... no Tosh really, right? 1-10, Tosh didn't do much talkings. Diane and Emma were cool though. AU them with Tosh. 1-11, all boys. And Janet. Again I scrub my brain. 1-12, boys and more boys. And Nancy. And some girls that didn't acquire names I think. And not a whole lot of time, but hey, it's wartime, maybe she found a quiet corner. And then there's 1-13, and not a whole lot of time for meeting people there.
... looking for potential girlfriends makes me kind of raised eyebrow about the fate of female characters in season 1.
Season 2 thus far also lacks girlfriends.
So: Martha, and xovers. And since we have time travel and travel between universes to play with xovers get really easy. Starting with all the DW companions... ooooh, Tosh/Romana... okay, I could totally like that. They'd be all smart and snippy and save the world and stuff. Outside DW... I kind of want to give her Amanda from Highlander. Because I like them both and they could have fun. Plus there's a whole security systems thing they're both into. Tosh could do the remote hacking stuff and hire Amanda for the break ins and they could talk only on the phone to start with and have a whole naughty flirty thing going before they ever meet and then hook up in Paris for a wild weekend while Tosh gets the merchandise.
I should go sleep. I've got to get up in less than seven hours. I tried sleeping but then I got really bored. Should try again.
