Feb. 26th, 2008 12:09 amI gave up, got up, and took painkillers. I'm sure sleep would be more useful, but it aren't happening. And while it might be just a small headache by my usual standards, it's quite entirely enough.
Also, these keys are loud. Really. Like on the train clatter clack.

ANYway
Someone stuck a key through the letterbox the other day. I suspect it's related to one of the more sustained thumping noise incidents from the underground garage. Don't know, never go down there.
It says "Key to Elect Cubbard".
I think I can translate that. Figure out author function? Imagine a likely author and imagine what, given the givens of normal everyday life around here and the anchoring of the syntagm provided by the fact it's on an actual physical key what fits in the lock somewhere, they're most likely to have meant.
And then I can deplore the state of education today. Not that I can change locks or indeed successfully put screws in anything that isn't pre drilled, but.
But. I am writer. And isn't it more fun to figure out all other things they could mean?
Clearly this is a mystical key of great political significance. Must now quest for this 'Cubbard' entity...
