And there's a couple of signs that will put you right off (I have yet to find a fic written in any combination of purple and pink that turned out to be worth the style=mine clicking) and some where you plain can't read it (paragraph breaks are not optional! No, *really*.) And then there are things where once upon a time you would have read it, but by this point?
If Ianto starts the fic crying
and I scroll and he's still crying
and I scroll some more and he's stillfucking (hang on fucking is one of the good signs) crying
I'm pretty much going to skip reading the bits in between.
Yeah, he cries pretty.
I'm over it.
Also? It's like acting drunk. Drunks aren't trying to fall over, they're trying not to fall over and then failing at the most amusing / inappropriate moment.
Ianto is not trying to cry. He's trying not to cry, with big emotional barriers like a huge great castle reinforced with good suit fabric, and then, sometimes, breaking down.
... I have yet to read one where it's at the amusing/inappropriate moment though.
With the recent tendency to scream at loud noises or unexpected touching fic could totally go there with the crying.
... I probably still wouldn't read it though. :-/
