beccaelizabethVirgin 1 seems to be actually worth watching. They have Blade:the series, and also The Sarah Connor Chronicles, though I'd have to watch the first few before watching tonights and I'll have to DL tonights.
Last time I really looked at this channel it waas all reruns like DS9.
So far I've seen more ethnic diversity on this Blade series than I usually do on whole seasons of other shows. As in, there's more than one person who isn't white. And they all seem to be named characters and everything.
oooh, vampire chick kicking arse? nice.
the plot is very you-missed-the-rest-of-the-season, but other than that it doesn't suck.
... well, they're vampires, so yeah, sucking happens, but.
... I don't know what aspect ratio it's in though. It looks wonky. I'll put it on zoom instead of 16:9. Hope that works.
Also? Lacking subtitles on the show but not the adverts. annoyance.
Hey, look, commercials. I haven't seen any for ages. Which happens when you only watch the BBC. I mean I've watched Sarah Jane Adventures, Doctor Who and Torchwood. And... DVDs.
ooooh, so vampire chick is having family issues "every day they look at you and see the bastard that killed me"... oooh, awesome flashback trick, vamps feeding blood to give memory. Nice one.
... and now she's all chained up in bed. er, clearly this is one of those objectifying things. and therefore bad. yep.
but the conversation stuff is really rather nifty. vampire angst is of win. birth family vs family she's ended up with. some bloke telling her who to be. fighting back. eternal links, bonds that can't be broken... winning recipe.

And now flashback to 1899. They hsa flashbacks? I totally need to watch this show. Preferably on DVD with subtitles and no channel bug.
And it's like the Blade movies so vampires are organised and have human helpers and tattoos and conspiracies.
I totally need to watch this. I mean I watch sucky vampire stuff and this has all the non suck parts thus far.
Also I'm recognising actors. Which is neat. Is this Canadian?

oooh, and they have a creepy kid. I bet she's a creepy kid vampire. win.
commercials make tangents: The Sun is giving away Doctor Who episodes on DVDs. Cool.
So I looked on wiki and apparently it was only 13 episodes and then 'Spike' - there's a TV channel called Spike? - couldn't afford it any more. Eh. Just means I can buy all of it at once. Also, apparently, the DVDs were spiced up a bit. Interesting.
So, they have a black muscle man and an asian techie. Er...
oh look, violence! gotta love that.
ah, points against - violence against a woman, which we get to see in bitey detail, to inspire a male character. A vampire, but still. ungood.
ooh, vampire politics has turned into huge great vampire fight. win!
so the Blade 'verse has this great mix of purebloods, infected and regular people. And the infected resent the purebloods, and the regular people serve in the hopes of being infected. Creepy.
oooh, he totally fried his face in the fireplace. and then there were pokers and blood and mess. Cool.
and they totally fry up in ashes when they dust. Neat. well, messy, but cool.
divided loyalties. also of win.
... ooooh, I'm in love... this blonde vampire chick just decvapitated a guy with one kick.
rats, now she got knocked out by some huge strong guy. that's less cool.
so now there's messy bitey vampire sex. blah. and the music is totally of lose. boring music. doesn't fit.
and he sees it... and that's it? that's the whole story for this episode? It's like the whole thing is a middle.
Maybe it works better as a series. Probably still worth checking out. Maybe download a few before I buy.
So next is Sarah Connor Chronicles... which I can either watch now or get the discs out and start from the beginning. I think option B is better.
