Today's dream: Owen as central character. There was lots of sex. I really need to spend more time thinking about Ianto.

Anyways:
A doctor returns to a house he spent summers in as a child, having to break in over the back wall while the family are at the funeral of the old woman who owned the place. He's named in the will as a caretaker; they're going to sell the place. He hasn't been back there for years, not since the old lady took sick and stopped taking visitors. So he has to break in, to somewhere that was about the only place he felt welcome before university.
But he's not there for random nostalgia. There's a particular model he wants. Okay, a dolls house, but it's a perfect scale model with electricity so he can call it a replica or model or something just a bit less girly if he wants to. It looks exactly like the house did, down to the wallpaper inside. And when he opens it up... things start changing. Like he's opened something in his head as well.
When he looks around he starts seeing things reflected that he can't see in the room. Not just in mirrors, though it starts there, his own reflection gone strange. Anything with a shine starts showing him stories. Things he almost, but not quite, remembers. But not like that...
So has he just lost it? Nervous breakdown? Things that never happened? Or is it real memories of abuse resurfacing? But even if it was... it can't, can't possibly, be abuse by vampires... right?

So the story is more than half about him not knowing if this is mind or murder he's dealing with, and with the appropriate response being entirely opposite depending which way he jumps.

There was another bit too. He's running away from something at some point - this is why it isn't in the tidy narrative - and his car is parked where he left it but the other cars around it have all gone and instead there's a pink car pulled in blocking him. Very pink. Pink everywhere, outside and in, and really rather fluffy. And out of the pink car gets a pink girl, who pulls a pink gun from her purse. So he grabs her, grabs the gun, gets his left hand burnt as it fires but he's pushing it away and he ends up with her grabbed close like they're dancing and then without even thinking about it he bends to her neck and *bites*. And she drops the gun and moans... and not in a bad way. And he drops her, blood on his lips but not gushing out of her, and he gets in his car and races off at motorway speeds until he is in fact on the motorway and past a couple of exits. Then he finds a layby, pulls over, and throws up. A lot. Until there's no blood taste left.

So he's thinking he's gone nuts, danger to others, and then he starts being able to do things... move things, with his mind. The first thing, a basketball that rolled to a stop just beyond his feet when he's lying down. He can't be bothered to get up and get it, wants it over in his hand... which it rolls into with a *smack*. Just a little thing... and again, is it evidence, or is it his mind making patterns where none existed?

I don't know, on account of I woke up.
But is a good bunny.

... actually, I do know, because it's me writing it and I know which genre I work in. They're real vampires and he's a real mage and they really bound his powers when he was a kid. Now he's trying to integrate magic and medic and stop this threat somehow. And it will involve finding a way that, if delusional, harms no one but himself, but if true, kicks arse.

And also he'll go back to being a doctor at the end, only for his own reasons and not their convenience any more. Because beginnings are just beginnings, not the defining moment. That's the choice.
