no spoilers, no getting annoyed
Mar. 26th, 2008 09:51 amI keep seeing more and more 'spoiler' posts for the remaining episode of Torchwood. In fact I've been thinking of defriending some comms just for the next week and a bit so as to avoid spoilers. seems like more and more sneaks outside the cut. for instance, people's mood about said spoilers.
Why do people read spoilers? I mean, if it's a good thing then you would surely want to see it actually happen, and if it's a not good thing you're just annoyed for weeks about stuff that might not actually happen.
I can see the point in a US series if you hear about it far enough in advance and have delusions of power-to-change. But a UK series is done and dusted before we start to see it. Not changing without time travel. I figure, relax, find out when it happens, complain then.

Why I'm a Spoiler Whore
Date: 2008-03-26 11:40 am (UTC)Mostly, though, I'm interested in source texts because I'm interested in fanfic, and in construction techniques. I don't watch Torchwood, but I'm pretty sure the big spoiler is NOT going to be, "Then Jack says, let's all take vows of chastity and open up a hospital ship for baby aliens with cleft tentacles!" But if it were, you'd watch the season in light of how it sets them up for the big change, and how accurately (or not) it lays the groundwork.
