I was reading the BBC Writers Room website. I... don't know if the kind of things I write would fit the kind of things they want to read. But it might be worth a try.
Then I realised a new bit on an existing plot bunny and went to write it down, and I seem to have written about 1/3 of the whole thing. It's three different conversations and one tag where they all talk to each other for a couple of lines. I have written the third conversation. It's only a first draft, and already I had to go back and tweak it because I left out the bit that would lead in to the tag, but other than that I think it's pretty neat.
Of course now I have to go back and write the first two bits so they connect properly to the third one. Like keeping the character who's in all the sections as the same character in different conversations. I don't know if it would have helped doing that in the right order though. She starts off all shiny and polished, and now I know what her insides are I know what the polish is hiding.
Writing original stuff is odd. I mean, it has a lot in common with fanfic, but there's not the framework existing already so you have to invent your own. I could have told this story as fanfic in any 'verse but it would have turned out quite different depending on the 'verse rules. Now I make my own rules. And unlike most of the 'verses I play in, for this I'm keeping it simple and near naturalistic. No aliens or demons or ghosts. But still it would need a really good makeup artist...
