Doctor Who: Turn Left

oooooh, that was *shiny*. And then the next week at the end leads to bouncy squee.
Worlds without Donna => world without Doctor => Sarah Jane Smith saving the world from the Judoon, which rocks => Torchwood saving the world from the Sontarans, which rules... with that teensy tiny problem where they're all dead and the world is a bit crap in approved fascist if world ways. Dark possibilities to play with. And that labour camp bit... that was just scary. It all fit together, in a Doctor Who way.
I continue to dislike the 'throw yourself in front of a car to restore the timeline' solution though. I have this aversion to so called noble sacrifice... oooh, damn, that's the pun isn't it, that's where the story goes. Ugh. Anyway, I dislike that 'sacrifice' idea because... er, sorry, just noticed they did that pun once already in the volcano one... MY point was: I hate that thing where dying is the big deal. What about living? Living the difficult life? Because the grand gesture is so often the easy way. People keep trying to fix everything with the one grand gesture. And it doesn't work that way. There's just more day to day fixing left to do.
And other people to do it. I love it that the if world included all the other heroes. I hated in Highlander when they did world without Duncan and somehow everyone else was a bit crap. In world without the Doctor everyone else is heroes too... it's just sometimes not enough. That I can live with.
And the bit in the next week that rocks?
Ianto Jones!
And Jack!
And... is that Jack hugging Ianto? Maybe?
... because that would be cute and awesome.
So this week was a solid story all the way up to the ending, and the set up for next week rules, and the 'next week' section absolutely rocks.
Also, I totally chose the right episodes to rewatch lately. Coolness.
