Travel: Arrgh
Jul. 10th, 2008 06:38 pmThe hotel is close to the train station with a free bus going in between.
Okay, thinks I, I know how to get to the train station.
But nooooo, for Birmingham has *many* train stations.
*headdesk*
So I just spent... oh I don't know how long, too long anyway... poking around on assorted websites until I discovered that instead of the simple change at Ely or Peterborough for Birmingham New Street and then being close, I can change onto that train, then get off and get a bus.
Lots of buses. Many. I think they're like the UEA to Station loop in Norwich, there's bazillions of those and as long as late isn't a problem you get where you're going whichever one you take. If I'm wrong, I'll probably end up on the wrong bus entirely. *sigh*
I need to get to a hotel which says it is 10 minutes away from Birmingham Airport and Train Station by the free complimentary bus service.
That's the phrasing. As if Birmingham has only one Train Station. So I'm not being entirely stupid here.
Birmingham International Railway Station and the Hilton Birmingham Metropole hotel.
That's what it says way down the end of the page.
So if I start at Norwich - which technically is the opposite direction than the way I actually want to go, and I could take the bus to Peterborough, but then it takes many hours on the bus instead of less on the train... ANYway
Dereham BUS Norwich X1
Norwich bus station ish BUS Norwich railway station - the every ten minues in theory UEA loop bus
Norwich railway station TRAIN Ely
Ely TRAIN to coleshill parkway rail station... I've never heard of that place before, but the travel planning websites have.
coleshill parkway rail station BUS to Birmingham International Railway Station
Birmingham International Railway Station BUS to Hilton Birmingham Metropole hotel.
... simple enough ...?
*sigh*
Okay, I stop poking it. I go eat something. Then I come back and print directions and things.
