It is too hot. I am wilting. It's hot that sneaks up on you until you're all sweaty and can't stand the laptop for the warmth and yet it doesn't feel all that hot. Blah. No fun.

I started writing a Torchwood fic in script format. I realised I was stalled on starting the other plot bunny because I'm not ready to give up on Owen yet. So I set something right after 2.8 and started with the teaser scene, and it's rolling along merrily. I'm not sure it's any good, but it's certainly more pages than I've written... er, possibly this year. When was the last time I used the fic tag? Ridiculous of long ago... aha! March 4th! ... but that was really bad. And there was a drabble. And... I wrote that? I wrote bad OFC het? What was I *on* and please to not be taking more of it... I hide that... Hang on, that's not so much het as randomly pointless... Okay, I can live with that. And before that there's a couple of, well, somewhat pointless J/I snippets. Actually no, 'Significant Difference' is fine except for being badly chat formatted. And 'Need' is actually quite nice. Small and snuggly but nice.

Right, so, about fifteen hundred words this year.

And before that, 4500 of porn... last August.

You know, at this rate I have to stop calling myself a writer.

What happened to this year?


Right then. I'm pretty sure I've written more than that already tonight. Yep, 1600 words, thus more than doubling my word count for the year since midnight.

... no, really, what happened to the year? I'm sure I've written novel length stuff before...

So I haven't actually got to the end of a scene... actually part of why I stopped is I've been thinking about scenes and average scene length and mine isn't going to match Torchwood at all. Also it's kind of, er, inspired by a couple of very identifiable horror thingies at the moment. Aliens, which is a classic and quite fun to rip off, but also one of the better episodes of a Channel 5 horror compilation from before the signal got any good. And it's all designed to keep people isolated even while surrounded by, well, Cardiff. And that's all very well but it means that the part of the plot that has actual plot lacks Team Torchwood, and the part that has Team Torchwood has a whole lot of talking and very little stuff actually happening. Which wouldn't work so very good in an episode. I could mix it up by showing on screen stuff that I've currently covered by a couple of sentences on comms, but that would just dilute the point. Story is about Owen. I should just go with it and let it be about Owen.

Actually I should go to sleep. But there was being hot and sweaty and sort of inclined to have a tantrum. Sulky and hot really go together.

Is good thing I don't live with anyone or all this awake would be really obnoxious.
