First day of a new semester. I had done relevant reading, turned up in the right room, contacted the right tutor, looked up the book list, and found all the work on Blackboard. Student win.

Quite a lot of the reading list is not available in either City College or UEA libraries. I have double checked it's not just me not finding them. So I told the teacher and she apologised a lot and said they'd be in Cambridge university library for sure.

I can see how that would be true. I can also see how that could be less than helpful.

I went on the bus this morning. I caught the bus I had planned to get, but only because I woke up half an hour before my alarm went off. Also it took me twenty minutes to get to college, plus a bit because there were a lot of people walking the other way. One of them put their hand on my head. Probably they like my hat. I like my hat too. But I do not like people putting their hands on my head. Just in general. Still, only ten minutes late, and the person I was meeting was later, so that worked out okay.

... I'm now going to have to email them back and inform them of the change in my timetable.
... assuming my timetable change works out.
... I'd really rather prefer that my timetable could have stayed the proper shape like I chose.

Made an appointment to get someone to help me fill in the finance application forms.
It just got a whole lot simpler, so that's nice.
But I still do not like forms where large amounts of money depend on my thinking inside boxes.

I saw my tutor. Actually first I saw the teacher for the unit I thought at the time I was dropping. She said that's okay, too many people to fit in the room anyway. Now I need to fit in the room anyway. Oops. But then I saw the tutor.

I'm feeling a bit stupid because I did all this stuff and it didn't work. But if the plan was stupid then one of the half dozen teachers/tutors I ran the plan past would have pointed that out. I had just failed to account for the possibility of the course being cancelled.

Anyway, at lunchtime I was feeling all organised. I had met many people from last year who were not organised. Most of them had not looked at blackboard or their email, and therefore had no idea either that the group tutorial is on Thursday this week or that there was a reading list to do before this semester started. I had the reading list printed out and I spent the rest of the time before class going through both CCN and UEA library catalogs finding, or to be precise on the whole failing to find, the books on the list. Now I have a list with the numbers written down in two versions, dewey and that letters and numbers version.

I went to class and said stuff that teacher said 'brilliant' to. Because my computer has a search function and I could look up last year's notes. Well, I knew what word to use and what to look for, because Myth is a cultural studies keyword as well as a word for greek stuff. So that was cool. Also two people I knew both the other years I've been studying are also in teh same class, so we can work together. And all the people from cultural studies last year. And also all the people from English&Psych. Blackboard thinks that the ENglish&CultStuds M&M class is a different group than the ENglish&Psych, so when the teacher posted stuff only the CultStuds side got it. So mostly nobody has the reading list. Or the set texts. So I'm feeling nicely ahead of the game there.

I contributed to group work, stuttered very little, and realised that I'm actually getting better at that stuff, because there's a room full of manymany people I don't know - and I do mean full, they ran out of chairs and tables and she's going to ask for a different room - but I could talk okay. Pretty cool.

I offered to show people UEA library, because I go there a lot. Several people were interested. I'll now have to say I can go there a lot in a different timeslot. Nobody will mind, but it's annoying. I had a thing all organised and kind of geekily social. *sigh*

After the lesson I went and saw the elephants. All the Norwich elephants were outside the Forum. Many elephants. Very pretty. I got to see the ones that were too far out to walk to when they were in place. I like the tattoo art one with the dragon. I don't know why an elephant would have a dragon on it, but then there's no particular reason humans and dragons go together either, so I guess an elephant would have a dragon if they wanted to. I would not wish to tattoo an elephant. Just in general. Even if it worked, you'd have to be very very sure the elephant wanted the tattoo.

I also went in the shop that does teh Doctor Who signings, the one opposite the Forum. I got the new RTD book. Also I saw that they're getting Tom Baker back for another signing. The one he did on their opening day had a line going around the block, so that's pretty cool.

Then I caught the bus. At 1600ish the bus is very full. It's also full of shopping, and somewhat lost looking 18 year olds, and people that get off a stop too early and walk because they don't know where the bus goes yet. Start of the year, very much busy. All the new 16 year olds at city college are quite amusing too. I saw one today who was shorter than me and chubby... and wearing a squeaky new leather waistcoat with huge great spikes on the shoulders. Yeah, that's to grow into, that is :eyeroll: Mostly I don't mind teenagers except when they travel in packs. Then they take up more space than mere addition would suggest and do not get out of the way or leave people alone. But the university ones are less annoying than the college ones like that. Just made the bus full in all the seats. Getting out at university it was like clown car bus.

At university I have my library routine working mostly okay. Except the place I got food the other week was today not working, so I couldn't do that. I also discover today that if you put your bag in the top locker and it gets stuck on the way out then all the lockers fall forward a bit. Er, oops? Not good. But it worked eventually, so yaay. Put books back, got books out, registered computer on uni wireless network... oh dear, will that stop working if the course is cancelled? No, I have a CCN login, that should work fine. Some of the books on the reading list are about plays that are not on the reading list. She said that if we just stick to the set texts in the exams then she'll be Not Impressed and we won't do very well. I guess I'll read the other plays in the books. Fun. But I'll start with reading the books that are actually about the play we're looking at next week. That's Medea. So I got three books out that have bits about that. One wasn't on the reading list but it's in the same section as the others and has an interesting title so I might as well.

I got to the bus stop half an hour early and eventually caught the last bus that goes direct from university to home. If I could relax a bit more I could catch the bus with less standing around.

Then I walked home. In the dark. Reminding me I only intended to put the shiny reflecting dragons on my jacket, and actually it is still just dark.

I shall fix that.

I shall also have food and sleep now.
That was quite a lot of day.

The really cool part is that I did all those things and it was just with doing-things brain. No panic. No feeling sick and faint. No being dizzy. Very small stuttering. This is all pretty awesome really.

I just looked at the Children's Literature blackboard and I think tis done the same typo as split the Myth group, because it seems to think the class has 5 people in it. Huh.

Anyway. Up until I got home and had to reboot my plans - a thing which I am dealing with calmly and without much bursting into tears or anything - today was going rather well. I did all the things on the plan. That makes it a really rather good day. All the planned things were achieved. And whatever has gone different again was because of other people and not because of me. Works out nicely.
