Dentist! Happy!
Apr. 9th, 2009 01:50 pmAnd how often do those two words go together?
So, I was lucky and the dentist was running late.
... yes, a 25 minute wait is lucky, when you've forgotten to leave time for walking from the bus stop, misread the schedule, and had traffic make the bus late anyway.
I got the usual 'brush teeth better!' which I totally should pay more attention to
but there was nothing new wrong with my teeth, yaay!
Then I got back to the bus stop and discovered I had missed the bus by approximately five minutes. :eyeroll:
So I read Hamlet while I waited.
Between the late dentist and the bus missing I got up to 'To be or not to be'
I was going to read on the bus but travel sick would win.
On the way home I picked up my new monitor. It thinks it has built in speakers but they're a bit rubbish. But since I'm going to have to juggle a bit to have enough plugs they'll be useful.
I'm having trouble with the settings though. Everything looks a weird shape. And when I make bigger the videos they go horrible flickery, even though they're fine at the normal size. Logic says different buttons need pressed than I had for the big box monitor, cause this is widescreen and says '1440x900' written on the side. But that's not one of the options on my settings for the desktop. *Shrugs*
It's bigger than my laptop, bigger than my old monitor, and given that it's closer to my face *looks* bigger than my gigantic TV of expensiveness.
Basically, win.
If I can make it work.
Maybe I should try it with some files that aren't downloads. Has a DVD player.
oooh, there's nothing quite as nasty as a tune you really like through speakers you really really don't.
I didn't buy it for the speakers though, so no worries.
I can now fit my desktop and my laptop side by side on the same desk, as long as I stay in wire range of all the plugs.
Nice.
Technology continues to surprise me. I was sitting here quite content with my old clunky stuff and now I find I can't even get anything that simple any more. I had to opt out of the webcam. Do people really want their TV to stare at them? Weird.
