Jul. 28th, 2009 05:23 amMy writing is sort of screwed.
It's not that I'm stuck between plots. Though I am. And keep thinking of new ones that keep trying to wrap around old ones and twist.
It's that right now all my characters could run out of air, die in a transit accident, or discover that everything they ever believed in was wrong, and I wouldn't actually care.
That's sort of a bigger problem really.
A lot.
So I don't know if my problem is depression or a big dose of 'what's it all about really when you get right down to it'
but fiction is failing me.
Woe.

Date: 2009-07-28 01:53 pm (UTC)In more practical terms, pick one of your characters and write a list of things you have already said about him/her that makes you like them as a person. Then write a list of things you have already said that makes you dislike them. Then think about the character in your head and work out what should be on those lists that you haven't managed to show on the page yet. If you stop worrying about plots for a bit and start thinking about them as just people you may be able to approach problems from a new angle.
But still don't be too hard on yourself.
