Employee and me went to Norwich looking for coats and trousers. Gave trousers to charity shop, bought cardigan and long jumper dress thingy. Made sense at the time.
Trouble with the coat quest is I been most places now and still not found.
Trousers though more success, the ones I bought last time we were out fit really very well, they're a bit stretchy and very comfy, and they've got sparkly silver pinstripe on black. Excellent :-)
I sold three books for £3.50, books I didn't like, so yaay. I feel I could get more if I was better at selling books, but, is still good.
We got a pasty at the pasty shop and then I counted my money for charity. I put it in rows and rows of rows, and then made a second layer. By the time I counted it all out my employee was all :-( about muggers. I don't think the other two people in the upstairs of the pasty shop looked like muggers, but I take her point. Next time I count before I go. So I rounded it up and then we went to Oxfam and I bought essential medicines because I watched a documentary about diseases and it seems like a very good idea. That's all year of collecting pretty shiny pound coins that is. Dragons and lions and oak trees go to charity. I have one of each pattern still, but the rest are charity spent. It's a bit random but it works out.
I'm not boasting about how much I give to charity. I'll take the numbers out. I just like that I got things done today.
So then we went looking for clothes, only I'm out of ideas rather, so we looked in the army surplus place and in Head in the Clouds and in the two goth clothes shops and in some more charity places. Some things were shiny but not large enough or not quite fit for current purpose or had a funny texture. It is hard to find something that is bright and cheerful and warm and water resistant.
Then we went back to the Forum, and they had horses on a carousel. It was very shiny. The sign said it was made in 1889 and had been in a whole lot of movies. They were playing the music from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang when I went past, because it was in that. All the horses have names. They go up and down and round and round and it's shiny pretty.
Then I went to the Television and Movie Store. I got two audio CDs and I looked at the DVDs and the books. They had a copy of the book from Telos about Torchwood season 2, and since I had a minute waiting for my employee to catch up I went looking through it for who they quoted off LJ. They quoted fairyd123 a whole lot. They only quoted me the once, about 2-08 and Owen and suicide. I'm not sure I like that. It pulls it out of context. I mean when I'm writing here I'm writing as a mentally ill and disabled college educated long time media fan with some cultural studies background, I'm writing about disability in the media, I've got a conversation going on. People can ask me stuff in the comments. In a paper book they don't even have the URL, though they have the date and my username so it can be found. It don't feel the same.
Also, usually, when people print my stuff they pay me for it. Not cool. But that discussion happened long since.
Then I decided I was All Done. In fact I think I was a bit past All Done. I wasn't noticing I was tired, it was the thing where I was flapping and spinning around in circles that was a bit of a clue.
... dignity, I has it.
So employee drove us home.
The car is very cold. Cold plus cold. We can see our breaths.
And then we stopped at the lights and we appeared to be smoking.
There was a cloud on the front of the car.
It was a teensy worrying.
So she dropped me off and is heading straight for the garage to get that seen. Which is nice.
Now I am home.
I reckon that was 0930 to 1300. Doing mostly nothing takes a long time.
