Someone really, really loves the Dalek movies. I figured so from the TARDIS interior, but this? Dalek redesign => rainbow Daleks! Or white blue red dalek. Or like the radio times with red blue yellow. Daleks to insult whichever politics you want.

I loved teh camo Daleks with the pouches myself. Dalek with a tea tray too.

Though you know why Daleks aren't usually camo - that implies a need to hide, and a sense of fear. If Daleks are hiding then... they aren't quite Daleks.

So, *bzaaap*.

This one was really, very, good. I'm going to ignore the history bits because I lack context that doesn't come from war movies. But spitfires in space! Dude! Doing it RIGHT! How awesome can you get? Actual WWII spitfires in space! We've done alien-in-history stories a bunch of times but this one was extra win with the mixing iconography.

I kept thinking of Jack though. How he'd have reacted. How sickened he'd feel. But the Daleks were in London, and Torchwood era Jack can't afford to go to London, so whatever he was doing he wouldn't have known about them. But, and most worrying/interesting, it might not matter...

because Amy doesn't remember Daleks. And she should. The whole Earth should. Either someone memory erased a whole planet... or history has been changed. History that the Doctor and his companions lived. And that means anything, absolutely anything, could happen.

Did the Doctor already fall into an alternate universe? The TARDIS would choke up on the diesel... but the TARDIS was rebuilding herself anyway. But on balance no, hence the Winston knowing him stuff - he is the Doctor here, he is known, not by his face but by being himself at them. So it's not an AU in the sense that the world the cybermen came from was.

But it might be an alternate history.

... oh the bunnies I'm getting ...

(Also you know GDL saying he wants to play an alternate universe evil!Ianto? How easy does this make that?)

I watched bits of this with the sound off because they were unsettling and I didn't quite know where it was going. The bits where the Doctor was having a go at the Dalek with a giant spanner. Because you could for once see the Doctor as newbies see him - a madman with a box? A man who isn't looking at the same world as those around him. He's brought so much context along with him that nobody, absolutely nobody else there has... it makes him look wrong and worryingly so. So for a moment there it was like teh 'verse was knocked off base, because what if he's wrong? What if, here and now, a human had invented these... ironsides?

... and then he's a different kind of wrong, and it all goes to hell.

I loved the bit with the Jammie Dodger. I loved both that we could see it clear enough to read it, and that he named it later. That was awesome, pure Doctor in any variety, bluff and barefaced cheek.

I got to admit, I love the rainbow Daleks. They're fun. And specialised Daleks? Are a little bit closer to individuality...

And then, with the 'bomb'... talking him into being human... oh Doctor, is that really all you could think of? Is that really what you understand it to mean? The pain, the loss, the horror of war?

(And the writing there, now that's show-not-tell.)

And then Amy. Kissogram Amy. Her being in touch with the sexy-and-naughty side? Just saved the Earth.

And she passed the whole win to the Doctor just like that, said it was the Doctor that saved them, pretty much to make him feel better.

I love them both *so much* right now.

She's awesome and he's the Doctor and this is Doctor Who.

*hearts*

And the adventure game promo right after it? Available for download when? I so must have this...

This episode was SO SMART, especially in terms of the potentials it offers.

So far the Eleven episodes are more hopeful than things have been since Nine, and yet the arc potential is darker than anything I've ever seen on DW.
