Random thought on Time and TARDIS driving

You know how we all assume the Doctor's bad at driving?
(Because, well, he is, historically.)
What if that time he's aiming right and Time is moving?


Also random thought on the Doctor's driving:

Other time travellers think the Doctor is really bad at driving the TARDIS, yet the Doctor can do really spectacular things with it (like materialising around Rose or towing the Earth or whatever). This is because other Time Lords think of it as having the purpose of getting you from A to B, whereas the Doctor wants to see what it can do. They're trundling around town on bicycles, probably sticking to the bike lane and designated paths; he's driving a BMX, and he's probably found all the best bits of town/architecture to try it out on. He's the Time Lord equivalent of the guy who figures out you can slipstream a lorry and do 90 on the motorway, or the extreme sports guys who think going up and down a pipe all day is perfectly reasonable cause you can do it in so many ways. Each user thinks the other is completely nuts, or completely boring, and Doing It Wrong.

Also, if the Doctor had a bike, he'd stick a playing card on the wheel so it Made A Good Noise.

Or he'd be the guy who built one out of washing machine parts (and it was then the Best Bike Ever).

The Doctor would be riding one of those really fancy lightweight racing bikes with all the bells and whistles, the newest ergonomic seat and a rear-view mirror stuck onto his helmet, and fancy clip-in biking shoes and all that jazz. I think he's probably past the card-in-the-spokes phase and well into the best gloves, water bottle and biking jersey with back pocket phase. Also, he'd constantly be getting off and tinkering with the gears and the chain, and yes, he'd be drafting behind a truck on the highway.

Doctor in tight bike shorts... happy thought...

The Husband used to be into bike-touring; I know the obsession well.

I was thinking more of Bessie the vintage-even-for-Earth car that could go whoosh faster than everything when pressed. Whatever vehicle he'd love it would look all kinds of odd but then behave brilliantly.

Also, the TARDIS is attracted to trouble hot-spots, and she likes being random (probably for the LULZ). In my personal canon she has bits that go off into infinity, and a wicked sense of humour. :-D
