The Word of the Day is 'Menagerie: a collection of wild or unusual animals; also, a diverse group.'
My first thought: so *that's* the word for the arrangements in 'Tea and Biscuits'
er, from 'ménage à trois', except they need much more numbers, and lets face it, any collection with Ethan in is unusual.

Just decided I wasn't up to the grown up world and put on The Dark Crystal
and loved it as usual
and criiiiiiiied at when she gets hurt
... just not my most emotionally stable day really.

But then she gets better! And he is holding her and there will be happy ending!


and then wondered, for the first time ever, 'but what if they turn out to be gay? No more gelflings!'

*facepalm*

My brain. Oddest things in it.

But then I watched the making of bits, and they said they'd decided to make the Skeksis a disturbing mix of male and female. But the mystics were 'masters'. Sooo... the bad guys are genderqueer and the good guys are male?
I probably shouldn't take offence at that.
... of course now my bad brain has gone to completely other interpretations of 'Master' and... no. Bad. Actually. Lets not go there.


I guess they did really well in the 'who gets to be an action hero' thing, and the girl and the guy each had knowledge the other didn't so there wasn't one brains of the team, and it was very balanced.
And the wings bit was fun.

But they've invented a whole other universe, and they put these genders in it. Which now struck me as odd.

*shrugs*

This is why I end up in Cultural Studies class. I could certainly get a paper out of this. And someone somewhere would want to read it.
The rest of the world wants me to stop messing up the kid movies...
