Dec. 2nd, 2005 02:29 pmI think I'm having, like, RPG withdrawal symptoms
I just had a night full of these long complicated dreams where I was a bunch of characters and there was this LARP around a castle (with a lake and a hill and all the cool castley bits, all working) which looked like Woodstock there were so many players. So it was more of a wargame in places, all the dwarves attacking the trolls in the lake for instance.
But other parts had like werewolves and stuff. But they were characters, not for real.
Also I dreamed I had a big padded comfy wheely chair (not technically a wheel chair, just something people were pushing me around in) and I had to get up to go look for bowl sized coffee mugs and someone stole it and I got really whiny.
My dreams don't showcase my best side really.
I'm bored. I should attempt to find a game to join if I'm that bored. But I've discovered not just any game will do. And also, I'm not very good at them.
I made up a couple of games but have discovered that while I'm great at the worldbuilding and make up fun NPCs with good interaction, I tend to forget the plot. Things have to happen. And then more things have to happen. And its amazing how much plot a group can burn through in a couple of hours. And I tend to run out real quick. So, need to work on that.
I could download some scenarios. I like the In Nomine ones. In theory I like Mage the Ascension, but I've never actually played it, and the more up to date the rulebook is the less fun the world is. I liked the old GURPS setup where they were fighting for the enlightenment of all humanity. That was cool. And there were some very chaos magic aspects to it, though the game wasn't setup to let a player take advantage of them.
I guess I need to find a group that also likes roleplaying about the basic philosophical questions. And yet can make a plot to go with them. Not just blowing things up because one god is better than another, or running a crusade or something. More subtle and about priorities and morals and stuff.
I've played only with the one bunch of guys since... ever. 'Find a group' is like a whole new concept. And also, scary.
*sigh*
