Newly regenerated Doctor, staggering around, mostly incoherent, hugging his shoes. :)
Keeps the TARDIS key in his shoe
door lock has a metabolism thingy, so the key wouldn't work for the Brigadier.
Doctor taking a shower. Interesting way to introduce him. See more Doctor than ever before!
Has a tattoo.
apparently there's something about it in the onscreen production notes, but I haven't watched it with them on yet.
(*goes back, checks disc* Ah, it explains how the actor got the ink, and that the shower thing was the actor's idea.
very spectacular shower it is too.
not so much relevant for fic writing though.)
but, newly regenerated Doctor has a tattoo
presumably he didn't stop off and get it on the way
so he could wake up with ears, nose, hair, and random tattoos!
makes you wonder what Rose found getting 10 into his nightwear
BBC Cult says the tattoo only lasts for one regeneration (very annoying, you'd have to get all your ink redone every thousand years or so) but you never know what he'll wake up like next.
other highlights - eyebrow communication!
two hearts, 10 beats per minutes

I like this one, even with the ridiculous tentacles.
the monster in the tank, with the pulsing clingfilm, was actually quite effective. murky and mysterious and plastic and creepy.
the tentacles... weren't.
I think I liked the newer versions of the Autons better.
but they were nicely creepy from the start.
I also liked the order they were introduced better in the newest eps. In the original we saw them as a weapon and saw what they were before we saw them in action. Removes mystery, suspense, horror. with 'Rose' we got the whole creepy arrrgh moment and then dived right in to the action.
and now I'm feeling vaguely disloyal just for saying some things are better now than decades ago :eyeroll:
both original and new Who have their strong points. Reckon I'm happy to call myself a fan of all of it.
