So, I rewatched these. For the bazillionth time.
Still so very, very good.
Mostly my review is *bounce bounce bounce SQUEEE!!! Horsemen!*
Because it is just that cool.
But I did discover a few things.
(a) I'm physically incapable of watching it without doing the speeches
(b) The double Quickening still makes me giggle uncontrollably
(c) My reactions to some other bits have changed. 'You stay alive as long as I wish it' does nothing for me any more. Abusive bastard is all I get from that.
Methos with a sword to his throat, however... whole other story.
This is one of those episodes that actually isn't much shinier in my head than it was on the screen. I was vaguely worried, because so often with Highlander I'm carrying around the good bits. With these two, its basically made of good bits.
Kronos is still a charming little nutcase.
The thing with the virus would still have gone very, very wrong - the thing about a virus is it spreads. You can't start small and build. Or rather you can, but you can't ever choose to stop it. Very bad.
Except Kronos wanted an apocalypse, so very much his thing.
Methos is still all kinds of interesting ambivalent. What game is he playing? The Game? Not so very. Something all his own.
The sword fights tell so much story. Especially the two which lead up to the double Q. And Methos killing Silas but *not looking*.
'I liked Silas' has so much emotion in it. You just know 'liked' is hardly an adequate word.
Cassandra irritates me. Okay, she has cause for what she is doing, fair enough. She irritates me because of her effect on Mac. Why does he believe her? Just because is all. Annoying.
But he does keep asking questions.
He just doesn't like the answers. Or have much flexibility in how to deal with them.
I *love* Joe's answer to "You live with that" - "I have."
Sometimes Mac forgets he isn't the only one done things, methinks.
I basically just love these episodes.
I get to meet them! Again! In only a few weeks!
yaaaays!!!
