Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased)
Mar. 15th, 2006 06:04 pmI just watched the first episode of the 'new' (vic & bob version) Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased). Which happens to have David Tennant as guest star, being entirely barking mad.
I've been watching the original version on digital channels and I vaguely recall I watched a couple of eps of this new one when it was first on, but I don't think I watched the first one.
It was fun because they spent the whole first half hour mucking us about, because obviously we knew Hopkirk was going to end up deceased, but we didn't know how. And they had this bit with the car where he throws his hands up just like in the credits in the original series. But that wasn't how he died.
... people dying is an odd source of humour, I know, but actually my kind of funny...
So I loved the end of it. The final shot left me LOL for the whole end credits. Because I didn't expect it, but I should have. The guy was such an obvious rip of a particular famous British artist. The one with the cow in two tanks of preservative? And there was a chainsaw... So, last shot, *funny*.
Much of the in between... less funny. Clunked a bit, for my tastes. Which, since I didn't find vic&bob funny when they're just being comedians, not a surprise to me. But theres a lot of promising elements too. Its just surreal and twisted enough, you know? So I'm hoping the rest are fun.
in other news, I just went to imdb, and WTF??? I clicked on a link for 'more' and got a movie, presumably an ad, though I didn't stay to find out. And then there was in fact no more. Cheat much?
Though it does explain why they split everything into seperate pages, if you're now going to have to sit through ads to get to those pages.
I hate it when upgrades make things much worse.
