I just finished watching up to the episode Alexis Denisof was in http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0682583/

this series is deeply, deeply strange
tiny bit clunky in parts, but makes up for it in surreal
pretty much every British comedian I've ever heard of is in it
all being nutcases
and... actually, trying to write it down makes it not work.
I mean they actually made me find a fart joke funny. Which generally does not happen.
so its all in the context.

AD in the new context...
very, very strange
see its British TV, so the actors range from quirky to homely
and then theres him
drop dead gorgeous
and the contrast is... wow.
and the other characters react to him as wow.
which you know, when all the characters look all shiny doesn't generally happen. (Except with Cordelia it does, so my point is kind of fuzzy, but it just struck me funny)

also odd, his accent
he's playing an American
with an accent
but... well... kind of a bad one
and yes, I do know where he's actually from
but his accent sort of wandered around a couple times
which is just extra strange

plus he's the only one there being all dramatic. its like he's a visitor from a different genre. everyone else is being surreal on purpose, he's being all James Bond dramatic. contrast is *funny*

And then with the way it ends up... well, I'll just say AD is still hot even when he's being a complete nutcase.
Which, actually not news...

I like this show. Its bizarre and very different. I'm ordering the second DVD now.

Have now finished watching through the first season of Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased)

way to work the premis

interesting stuff

also, interesting cast
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0682577/
including Gareth Thomas and Richard Ridings
and Jennifer Calvert who turns out to have been in SG1

I'm all sleepy and not thinking of good words for it
but this series was very... British. Interesting. Surreal. Full of characters that aren't your larger than life heroes, on account of being actually kind of lame, yet interesting and getting stuff done.
And the way it worked the twisted comedy was great. Plus when it went to serious violence and darkness and really messy death it just had that much more contrast so it was shocking, but also kind of... cartoony, so the random decapitations or whatever were less puke inducing. But it was still very creepy whenever someone beat up Jeannie.

Jeannie was a bit of a let down actually. I mean she did all this kicking and punching, so it looks like she gets to be strong, but since it never (outside the initial teaser) actually helps... not so useful.

But then the good guys lurch around between disasters in general really. Lots of getting beat up. But winning anyway. And, by the end, making the right choices, which is harder.

Interesting freaky weird and funny series.
