I wrote a poem!
Mar. 13th, 2007 06:00 pmSo, Intro Lit 2, poetry. Today: Sonnets. As an exercise at the end of class we had five minutes to write a sonnet.
... yeah, not quite.
But in ten minutes I wrote a not-rhyming sonnet with bad rhythm, and in the couple of hours after that I turned it into a rhyming sonnet with iambic pentameter... I think. Probably. Mostly.
'Good' is a whole other issue. Let's not talk about good.
We were supposed to think of a theme, something epic and unattainable, so of course my mind went immediately to Jack and Ianto.
... as it tends to ...
and then we needed an argument and a turn about and a punchline.
I think 'the internet is for porn' is a good punchline sort of in general, yesno?
So:
Sonnet I wrote today
The Captain, Harkness - Ianto calls him 'sir',
Or 'Jack' in moments duty doesn't call.
As lovers, between shots, they would whisper...
Alas - for now, those few shots are their all.
One stopwatch scene - the audience, denied
The details, fast becoming nervous wrecks -
The lust is epic, and unsatisfied,
Since two screen kisses don't add up to sex.
Yet true love never shall to strictures bow
And loving minds ever invention mean
Our heroes love is secret only now -
Just wait until the fanfic hits the screen.
Although we barely saw them, we don't mourn -
We fans all know the internet's for porn.
...
...
...
Okay, I'm getting this feeling, I think it's called 'pride' but it may in fact be *facepalm* with a sneaky hat on.
;-)
