I watched the first 3 discs of DS9 yesterday
until about 0300
when I went 'wah! no wonder is tired!' and went to bed.

Now I'm awake again.

Things noted:

Big cog doors. In a vague "So that's where Torchwood got them" sort of way. Then I wondered if they both got them from somewhere else specific or if there's just a sort of "big cog doors - yaay!" gap in the designer overmind.

Q. Specifically, we know he's an alien with grand cosmic powers who whisks humans off to see the universe. Likes that whole 'sense of wonder' thing they've got going on.
Sounds kinda familiar.
Also, good looking, and flirts with anything.
Sounds also familiar.
... I will not write Q/Jack ... nope ... and I'm not thinking it at all ...
... Plus there's that unfortunate thing where it takes ages and a lot of messing about before Q takes bugger off for an answer. And he's hellish jealous.

... hang on, now I've thought of an actual *reason* to write it, do a compare/contrast with the Doctor, show what he isn't like.
... nope, still have better things to do.
... right?

The world is very shiny bright today. I could do some poetry reading. Or I could go back to sleep. Or I could watch the other discs of DS9.

... poetry is going to have to fight for it ...

These lines
here
are next to each other
and therefore
might be poetry but
are all one
paragraph

This line here is an actual new paragraph. See the difference? Big empty line in between!

Posting entire fics without those cute little empty spaces?

Not. Good.

Seriously, I know it's probably something happens in the interaction between assorted computer programs, maybe even a display issue where your style or word processor automatically thinks one 'enter' is a big empty line, but most people have one 'enter' being
next line
which means you have to hit it twice.

Or else it ends up quite unreadable.

Some days I think I should type up, like, a haiku or drabble or similar artistic expression of basic points, and then go leave it in every single fic it applies to.

... grammar haiku anyone? Torchwood relevant layout drabbles? Some really nifty fandom specific way of saying that dark grey on black is not the world's best typeface?
That way it's not just being grouchy, it's being creatively grouchy. Where snark meets art.

Other topics include fic headers and exactly why a fic should have the same title for the whole story. Which will take some thinking about in that way that things that seem utterly obvious tends to. Not that posting a series with different titles is necessarily of the bad, but posting in numbered parts but with different names? Not helpful!

... IF I were the boss of the world it would all work MUCH BETTER!!!

:eyeroll:

Am watching more DS9. Got as far as the one with the imaginary people. So, we know Julian has PWP and hurt/comfort bunnies. ;-)

Imaginary Jadzia = funny
until she vanished and he was all sad-puppy about it.

baby humans are really cute.
baby humans who appear to have really tiny bajoran noses? even cuter! nose!

also mini humans are cute too
but not the short kind with the fake nose on.
just to be clear.

... now I'm imagining baby Klingons and it's kinda disturbing ...

I'm now up to episodes I didn't have on video, so they're basically new to me. Cool.

Have watched first season.
Like it.
It has, like, themes and issues and stuff. Because there was big fighting and now they're trying to not-fight. So, Theme.
And they pour it into individual stories and characters pretty well.
I think looking back at the series I get a bit bored with the ones that could have been set on any space show and really like the ones that dig in to the specifics of the situation.
Cool.

Though I still like the imaginary friends thing because funny.
Bit heavy handed in it's point, and really not terribly specific because we only got the hopes/fears of the federation guys, and then kind of abstracted, but still. We got character stuff. That's yaay.
There's a whole lot of characters. By the time they've all had a turn it's the end of the series. So I feel kind of like it's just one long intro.

Is still interesting. Specially knowing there's lots more to watch. If it was all new then I'd have to worry it got cancelled before it did anything fancy.

I'm also looking at college related books with a sort of dreary loathing. If the point is to find the fun in poetry I am so missing the point. All the stuff I thought was boring before is still pretty damn boring.
Last semester I pouted and wanted more weeks. This time I'm counting down with happy about the quickness.

... it might wear off. I can hope.

Still. Have previously done a lot more reading than I'm doing this time. Not that I'll get behind on the assigned stuff, but I'm not zooming ahead on the wider stuff either.
meh.

... I have another season of DS9. It's pretty much going to win.

Maybe I'll do like ten minutes reading just so I can say I have.
Actually, if I schedule ten minutes in between episodes then I'll get a ton done relatively painlessly.
Plan.
