Left behind! On accident! No!
very sad.

... also really dumb. Of her for getting out the car and of him for not checking.
He doesn't go back and check, does he? That would be sensible.

Always trying to sneak off without the explanations.

*looks up on Wiki*
(cause I know a bunch of stories with her in but I've not much watched things in order before)
*phew*
cause that would be a really dumb way to leave the TARDIS. oops! *facepalm*

Okay, aside from that - the Master! Again!
in that coat!
What is it with Time Lords and never changing clothes?

is always cool when the Master is being sneaky.

other bits I liked: covered in bubbles of evil!
because clearly the FX budget is made of win.

Delusional flight attendants also amusing.

I think I especially liked the way the rocks creaked when they stood on them. That's just classy.

... I'm playing along, really I am, but they do make it difficult sometimes.

I need new headphones. The speakers on my laptop are, well, laptop speakers, never so very good. I have little headphones but the foam is wearing out and they are not comfortable in my ears and they were never exactly classy in the sound department anyway.
Also they stick together with magnetism now.
Which makes me wonder about my brains.
This is your brain on the Doctor Who theme tune!!!

Tangent:
You know on wiki it's always saying 'the canonicity of the spin off media is in doubt' or whatever? Well Human Nature now puts it in very large huge doubt indeed, since presumably the Doctor didn't have the same adventure twice, therefore they can't both exist.
Not that DW has ever been particularly fussed with continuity. Stuff just kind of happens.

I've been reading some reactions to the thing where now there's episodes mostly without the Doctor. Mostly they are not happy reactions. Because you see it is his show, so we wants to know about him.

But I was also thinking

if the Doctor is always around, and then bad things happen, then you can get the Torchwood Institute view that the Doctor is of the bad. But if you have bad things happen more or less without him then you get the idea this is a universe full of bad things and sometimes he turns up to fix them. Which is better.

Also, however clumsily, what we get from the Doctorless eps is a view of the Doctor from a different angle. Not the usual Doctor=center of the universe view, or following companions around. Starting from completely clueless and seeing where it goes. So that's new.

Someone said they couldn't think of many more ways to make the Doctor not be in the story. That to me is a most odd thing to say. Because a whole lot of stories have no Doctor in them, generally.

And it's not like there's a shortage of characters that are not the Doctor. We could see what meeting the Doctor has done to people's lives later. Do they all go off and save the universe a lot? Do they go back to their everyday lives and try and forget it all? Do they turn evil?

We could see a story from the point of view of the Doctor's arch nemesises. Not the actual ones, the ones more like the trio where the Doctor hasn't actually got around to noticing they exist.

Or there could be one like that ep of Babylon 5 that was about the repair guys. God knows there's a lot of repair work to do in the Doctor's wake.

There's bazillions of stories.

And that is why having those stories opens out the 'verse in a good way - it isn't just that being with the Doctor is great, it's being anywhere in the story, getting involved, doing your best with whatever the universe throws at you. RTD said on the confidential that the best bit of Doctor Who was the idea you could walk around the corner and there might be the TARDIS, ready to take you anywhere. Well these stories don't even need the TARDIS - adventure can come to you. Which, you know, somewhat less than reassuring, but since it is part of the purpose of DW to traumatise the younger generations all to the good.

It just makes it a universe full of adventures instead of just the one life full. I like.

... in theory. In practice it takes a lot of work. Even more than regular DW, because you can't depend on the presence of the Doctor to liven things up for you. Everyone has to be built real fast as well as a proper DW plot. Trickier.

Cool.

Omega lookin like 5
and head of security dude looking like 6
... so, not confusing at all then.

Gallifrey again
so twisty politics and backstabbing and Shock Horror someone on the council is a traitor!
... does he ever go home and *not* have someone on the council be a traitor?

That whole bit with Gallifrey-go-boom-woe would be somewhat more effecting if we'd ever seen anything nice about Gallifrey. I mean the Doctor had one whole friend who didn't turn out to be the bad guy, but... there's always someone turning out to be the bad guy, and also they keep trying to execute him a lot.

Tegan rejoins team TARDIS
with new and better hair
and a not-better top. I mean it looks fine when she stays still but whenever she breathes in it does ungood squishy things to her. not that I was paying particular attention, it was just particularly ungood sometimes.

Then I watched the first part of Snakedance. Now Nyssa has really bad clothes. It's kind of sad.
Also there's a cave that looks like a snake and lots of screaming.
Shall see how it works out.
Think I've seen it before on UK Gold but that would mean I saw it in the early hours of the morning some time. Hasn't had UK Gold for years.

So now I pause again for the laptop to recharge and my ears to recover from those headphones. There's really no good with those things. Tiny little ouch machines. But the laptop speakers sound tinny.
Maybe I could unplug the main computer speakers and plug them in somewhere the laptop can use them.
... I don't think they fit in my bed, which rather negates the convenience factor of the laptop in the first place.

Nyssa still seems to lack a personality. Say what you like about Tegan, at least you can't forget she exists.

... the fact that I can think this after Arc of Infinity is just *sad*, cause she's running around with a gun threatening the high council of Gallifrey, and you'd think that would register as kick arse.
So what's missing?
... well, her, I guess. I mean... she does things. She fixes things, and she reads things out of books, and she's useful. And that whole bad thing happened with her dad and then her planet and sometimes she... mentions it, with a surprising lack of angst or woe.
But does she like chips? Or talkin to servants? Or, you know, talking, when she isn't doing exposition or plot with the Doctor?
I mean with Rose we find out a bunch of her opinions up front. We know what she wants to do. We know why she's travelling, and it's a going-towards, not a nothing-else-to-do.
Why's Nyssa in the TARDIS?
And we dont even know if she likes dancing at parties, cause she was just copying.
All reaction. echo girl.
I don't know, I'm trying to figure out why I don't think much of her, and that's kind of tricky on account of the not thinking.
Blah.

But apparently girl-with-gun is not enough to make me like a character, so that's a new thing to learn about oneself ;-)

I think I like the 10th Doctor best at the moment.
I feel vaguely like I just declared the others ex best friends. Woe.
Just... 10 is fun, and manic, and... has good stories and also Martha.

Still love 7 with the twisty plans and Ace.

I might have had enough of 5 to be going on with for a while.
