Headache went away 45 minutes after taking the painkiller. Awesome.

I was reading the BBC Writers Room website. I... don't know if the kind of things I write would fit the kind of things they want to read. But it might be worth a try.

Then I realised a new bit on an existing plot bunny and went to write it down, and I seem to have written about 1/3 of the whole thing. It's three different conversations and one tag where they all talk to each other for a couple of lines. I have written the third conversation. It's only a first draft, and already I had to go back and tweak it because I left out the bit that would lead in to the tag, but other than that I think it's pretty neat.

Of course now I have to go back and write the first two bits so they connect properly to the third one. Like keeping the character who's in all the sections as the same character in different conversations. I don't know if it would have helped doing that in the right order though. She starts off all shiny and polished, and now I know what her insides are I know what the polish is hiding.

Writing original stuff is odd. I mean, it has a lot in common with fanfic, but there's not the framework existing already so you have to invent your own. I could have told this story as fanfic in any 'verse but it would have turned out quite different depending on the 'verse rules. Now I make my own rules. And unlike most of the 'verses I play in, for this I'm keeping it simple and near naturalistic. No aliens or demons or ghosts. But still it would need a really good makeup artist...

Had a nice day. Had another sleep. This time dreamed there was a guy who woke up amnesiac when a big guy and a police guy broke into his flat. On his arms he had tattoos - NO SUNLIGHT / COULD BE FATAL. Only probably worded less ambiguously, because while I know what I meant it's the sort of thing one needs to be real clear about. So he was thinking he was allergic to sunlight, and hiding. And there was this diverting bit where he met Nick Lea and was all "Hello gorgeous" and there was kissing. He had no clue who this guy was but he was feeling sort of fuzzy and floaty and didn't really mind either. Nick knew who he was, and was really rather surprised about the gorgeous/kissing. But then they all got arrested anyway. He was in a cell overnight while they did tests on some stuff, but then they found out he wasn't actually stoned and none of the weird chemistry was illegal, so they let him out. In the daytime. Into sunlight. Well, first into shadows around street corners, thinking he could get back home without getting lit up, but then some guy shoved him and boom, sunlight.

So then he started to glow. And float. And flew away.

Which, you know, pretty cool.

So he's flying around being all whee! am superhero! Why those dumb tattoos? And not noticing that the more he glows the darker his shadow gets. And then the shadow goes over a bush and it falls apart. Dust on contact.

The big reveal is when he realises, sunlight fatal - to other people!

And then there was police station under seige by like living shadow. Presumably he's back there to rescue his gorgeous or something. Oh, and also there was Jack and Daniel from SG1, for no particular reason, in his secret base being couple-y. There's story there.

As superhero origins go I don't think I've seen anything quite like it.

Having a side effect of his superpowers be his own worst enemy could be a bit of a drawback though. He'd be spending all his time not doing the cool stuff and if he did the cool stuff even when things got extreme bad then he'd always have to weigh up if the bad was worse than the one he was making. And probably every time someone would die.

... so, possibly not a 7 season TV show, but it has some potential.


My laundry is hung up to dry and my shopping is arriving sometime between now and 11pm. Because the other timeslots were full. Planning makes thigns easier.

Also my recorder is recording something. I do not know what. When it is done I shall look.
