Doctor Who audios. Again.

7, Ace, and Hex
I like it.
I started with this one because there's new adventures with this combination still being made so I wanted to know who they were. So far, I like Hex. Distinctive voice, always a plus on audio. Proper expressive too. And I quite like his reaction to all the unusuals. Especially in contrast to Ace, who doesn't seem particularly phased by anything ever, specially by now. Repeatedly getting stuck on OMG seems entirely fair.
I'm not convinced that "I'm the Doctor" is a proper cliffhanger. I mean, it's not exactly a surprise. It doesn't really need resolving. It's therefor a bit short on things to carry you to the other side of the break. On the other hand, it is what we've been waiting for all episode, and then we'll find out how new guy reacts, so, that works okay.
Ace didn't blow anything up. Is that allowed? ;-)
I liked it enough I now want to go get the others with Hex. There's 8 of them? Something like.
The one thing about these audio adventures is how much you have to learn before you can make much sense of them. I mean if you stick to the TV companions then you can dive in at random, but if you grab a disc at random you could just as well get an audio only companion and confusion. And the Big Finish website doesn't really help. It'll search by names once you know them, but it's only arranged by disc number. The page that looks like it has the 8th Doctor stuff on it only has a small slice of it. Much confusing.
Also they still haven't fixed it so I can has subscription at price printed on the mail order form. This is probably cause it's xmas but I wants to give them money for more shiny stories and I can't yet. Unless I want to pay the error, which is £20, which is really a bit much. Another adventure or even two.
Anyways.
Hex. Like him so far.
Liked the story. Managed to have twists even in a story about the most predictable bad guys. And I liked the different interactions between human and machine that weave together.
Also, calling System Sys, with a girl voice computer. Seems extra fitting in a hospital setting.
Now I have to decide if I want to listen to the third and last 5&Turlough adventure. Then I'll be back to having No More Left. Don't think I like that.
ETA: I just typed Philip Olivier into Google.
*blinks*
Hex looks like that?
No wonder Ace keeps him.
:-)
