*waves* from college library
Mar. 15th, 2010 01:41 pmTeacher no is here. When teacher no is here is nice if college says so before we arrive from all over the county. Or even at all. No saying in email, just notices up in the classroom.
... if teacher is here is a very sneaky practical joke.
Anyway. Am in college library to pick up books (have returned the ones on Victorian crime and read through the one that covers up until the 60s and reserved the one that goes up until 2000 which someone really should bring back before the end of the semester). Also to do the research we're supposed to do instead of class. But I could have done that at home. Better. In a quieter place.
(I'm sitting in the silent study bit of the library, yet some annoying young women have decided to sit here and commentate their work. 'I've just sent it to the printer. Yeah. It's going now.' I, on my way to book shelves, stop next to them, get their attention, and point to the 'SILENT STUDY AREA' signs they're sitting just to the left of. They turn to their friend and say 'I've been told' and then launch a conversation. unDear annoying student person: Most of this library is not a silent study area. Most of this college is not a silent study area. You could be using the computers in any of 3 computer labs, and two thirds of this one plus all the other two are not silent study areas. This is the only silent study area. BE SILENT. Sheesh)
(Sorry, I type because dropping books on their head is Not Done.)
Right. Anyway. Work for today:
Research -
Edward Hopper
Nighthawks 1942
Night Windows 1928
Automat 1927
New York Office 1962
Conference at Night 1949
and the way they tap the codes and conventions of crime fiction.
This ties in to reading The Big Sleep and watching bits of the film. Somehow.
... I just had lunch and want to have a digestion snooze. College doesn't have a snooze room. As far as I know.
Right then. Study.
