Star Trek the Next Generation
Sep. 25th, 2010 05:19 pmChannel One showed the last (so far) episode of Star Trek last night. It feels weird to have a state of No Star Trek. I realise other channels have had that for some time now, but, still weird. So I decided to start rewatching Next Gen from the DVD collection. Also I realised I never so much as unwrapped them when I bought them - they were still on TV somewhere I think. It's a bit late to find out if they even actually work.
ANYway
It's a teensy difficult to watch. Partly because it's, you know, kind of bad, for quite a while at the start there. Er, quite a lot of a while. I could skip a season easy.
There's lots of good bits in the episodes. Lots of good lines.
It has moments of clunk and moments where the lines don't work, but, there's still lines there.
I find my perspective has changed, like noticing everyone is young. It's kind of like going back somewhere and realising you're taller, only different and with less banging your head.
Mostly though it's difficult watching because my strongest associations with this show is me being a teenager. I keep getting teenager flashbacks. Not the bad ones thus far, just random stuff like standing in the corridor outside a home ec lesson making notes on plot bunnies. The usual rambly mary sue plot bunnies. Mostly about Data. And, er, Wesley. It's making me all *facepalm* watching this cause I remember having such a crush on him and he's such a baby. And so was I. And... gah! *facepalm*
Sometimes I want to disown early me, but mini Trek fan me was sort of cute in a pat her on the head way.
There wasn't even an internet! Computers didn't talk to each other! Fandom was this weird far away thing that probably happened in America!
... the past was weird.
Yaay now.
So I'm trying to watch Star Trek, and I keep getting interrupted by, well, me. The actual episodes are the least part of this viewing experience.
