beccaelizabeth: Sarah Jane Smith (Sarah Jane)
I watched the Sarah Jane Adventures, the one with the funeral and everyone sad. In that one the Doctor isn't dead after all, except for all the ones of him that are, in a weird doubled way. It's about losing someone and having a lot of memory and a transformed younger version; and it has two generations standing there being a big hint about younger versions. And then there's the this-world level where some of the Doctor are dead and it's sad out here, but we have all these things they made that get woven in to more lives. And like right at the end Sarah Jane says the Doctor influenced so many lives he'll never die.
Well all over the internet right now everyone is saying how Sarah Jane, and Lis Sladen, influenced them. I remember Sarah Jane from The Five Doctors when I was small, and from lots of books, and videos later, and DVDs. A writer-hero. And now I just saw her on CBBC today - there were re-runs with sign language interpreter. That bit of the story is a bit the same stuff only more so, with her own sonic and her turn to teach and lead, and a bit about second chances and reaching out and how its never too late. A bit like that on both levels really, more story after you'd thought it was all done. Is valuable to know.

I have sad now. Lots sad.

But I also have all these stories I know I'll go back to lots of times.

I dreamed I was being chased around a lot of concrete buildings, kind of like UEA but without the trees or the charm. There was a dude with a superpowered gun that could go through those buildings like they weren't there. He was kind of a vigilante but for rules like 'no littering' and 'keep off the grass'. You got the little red dot of targeting first, and then basically spatter. No matter how far underground you went in the concrete maze.

So that was relaxing.

Then there was this dude, looked like Richard Ridings in Highlander, tried to bring about nuclear war. Bloke answered to the name Ash, though that weren't his original. More what was important to him now. He liked explosions, got off on them like immortals do quickenings, but the little ones weren't giving him a buzz any more, so he was after something bigger. So I got to dream a whole huge great explosions with everything turned to fragments and ashes and zipping past burning hot and OW. Granted it being a dream everything then went rewind but that meant I could worry about it happening again.

Again, clearly these are the kind of dreams that make me want to go to bed at night. And then all day again, cause the nights weren't restful. And then I get dreams like these and wake up flat.

Then I dreamed I was an electrokinetic who could control it so finely I could give people sensations without the physical stuff that usually causes them. Which was handy against Ash, cause I could promise him I could always give him more of a buzz next time. But to control it I had to be alive and unharmed and basically in a good mood. He didn't like the sound of that, so he splat me. Turns out when unconscious the electrokinesis happened but in a much less controlled fashion. In that everso logical way of dreams, it crawled into the nearest dead thing and made it animate again. It made a zombie panda.

... I don't know, okay, I just live here.

So then electrokinetic-I had the threat of imminent nuclear apocalypse and the threat of angry zombie panda. One of them was easier to take seriously, the other was shambling about trying to bite everyone in that room and was therefore more immediate. Zombie panda was not after your brains. It just kind of sat on you and gave you little static electric shocks until it got annoyed at someone else. Dreaming of zombie panda arse was not how I'd planned to spend my evening.

Then someone next door did DIY and I woke up. First time I've wanted to send someone cookies for that kind of wake up.

See on the one hand these dreams could be the answer to a lot of 'where do you get your ideas' type questions, but on the other, zombie panda??? :eyeroll:

I was just looking at swords, cause I realised all my Highlander swords were on the other computer. Richie's second sword, the gothic hand and a half, is the most gorgeous sword ever. But I wouldn't give it to another character, so I started looking at other swords too.

I read something today about book covers and how urban fantasy book covers have women with swords on so I was thinking, what sword would I give an urban fantasy woman? Apparently it would be T shaped with a circle on the end and a sort of a < down the blade shaped like wonder woman's headband.

But a lot of swords have something on the O section, usually a cross, one time a little flower. Then I found one that had four little <3 shapes. Perfect! Hearts and flowers and crosses and a lot of sharp steel.
