The Sarah Jane Adventures

I watched the Sarah Jane Adventures, the one with the funeral and everyone sad. In that one the Doctor isn't dead after all, except for all the ones of him that are, in a weird doubled way. It's about losing someone and having a lot of memory and a transformed younger version; and it has two generations standing there being a big hint about younger versions. And then there's the this-world level where some of the Doctor are dead and it's sad out here, but we have all these things they made that get woven in to more lives. And like right at the end Sarah Jane says the Doctor influenced so many lives he'll never die.
Well all over the internet right now everyone is saying how Sarah Jane, and Lis Sladen, influenced them. I remember Sarah Jane from The Five Doctors when I was small, and from lots of books, and videos later, and DVDs. A writer-hero. And now I just saw her on CBBC today - there were re-runs with sign language interpreter. That bit of the story is a bit the same stuff only more so, with her own sonic and her turn to teach and lead, and a bit about second chances and reaching out and how its never too late. A bit like that on both levels really, more story after you'd thought it was all done. Is valuable to know.
I have sad now. Lots sad.
But I also have all these stories I know I'll go back to lots of times.

Date: 2011-04-20 04:33 am (UTC)I've loved Sarah Jane since I was a little kid - absolutely heartbroken when she left the Fourth Doctor - and I have always cried buckets every time I've watched 'School Reunion' because I missed her so much.
