The more I read essays that try to construct JE as a book basically about the choice between St John Rivers and Rochester, the more I want to write an essay about how it's a search for a community of women. There are so very many women in this book, many more than there are men. ( Read more... )
the major problem with all this is it doesn't fit any essay question.
also it might not answer the learning outcomes.
or, you know, make sense.
we can make up our own essay questions if we check them with the teacher. is an opportunity for originality.
or for screwing up in new and interesting ways.
I could just do the reading I set out to do before getting distracted by it's not all about bloody Rochester and then I can answer one of the questions as set and then I can pass and stop thinking about it.
