Dec. 5th, 2014 09:51 amI am reading a book at the moment that I thought was new-to-me find from a series I really liked. But it's really, really familiar. Like, either I have the most persistent case of deja vu ever, or I have in fact read this before, at some point. Given that I can't remember the ending, probably in the late 90s when it was first published. But still, this is bothering me, because I can't remember it, and I don't own a copy of this one. At least memory and the catalogue says I don't. There are books that aren't in the catalogue yet, but I just rechecked most of the shelves and there's nothing by this author gone visibly astray. So how have I read it?
This is going to drive me nuts. More nuts. :eyeroll:
It's not that it might be a duplicate, that happens, I put them on the duplicates stack and share them somewhere. It's just the not remembering one way or the other.
Yes I know there's such a thing as libraries, I just... I keep remembering the plot points without remembering having read them, it's weird and annoying.
If I ever get sufficient shelving I'm going to put all the books up in proper order. Then I'll just look at the shelf and know if I own a thing. It'll be awesome.
... and a constant reminder of exactly how many I own and how long they therefore go between readings, but clearly with books that's not the point...
