My opinion has not changed since episode 13
basically, ugh
too dark, not my idea of fun.

Also the bad guy's big plan for the season was Read more... )

This show is not fun. I do not see the fun. So I'm not really wanting to watch more of it.

And yet, I own the next season already, and know I'm going to watch it.

*sigh*

Rupert Giles had been cursed so he had a month to live, and it took him a week to figure out the details, and he was probably going to be comatose for the last couple of weeks. So we had one week to break the curse.

In order to break the curse, we had to find 7 people willing to risk their souls for him, by giving him experiences based on the 7 deadly sins.

Sex, basically. 7 days of sex. Sometimes with cake.
(Cake was with Oz, because biting, and a sincere offer to make him wolfy too because obviously then he only dies of silver. So it was biting but not too much biting, trying to get the cake and icing and so forth without breaking skin even a little, while he was, well, mobile, and not entirely averse in the moment to the skin breaking concept.)
Or we needed to call/summon Ethan for Wrath, because lets face it, Ripper totally has Wrath sex there.

See the part I resent is it turned into a running around trying to find people dream, because come on subconscious, as porn setups go that one is awesome.

Dream got stuck because obviously Ethan, Oz, Buffy, Willow, Xander, and, er, Mary Sue, but then we need him to know a whole other person. And past that point the choices are not obvious. I mean, they might end up being mundanes who wouldn't know the risks, or who don't think curse breaking is a good enough reason to have Envy sex in front of former students.
If Jenny is alive they're not former students and my asleep brain noped right out.
If Ethan needs summoning rather than breaking out of prison then Anya is not available either.
Probably Olivia then. So finding and persuading her gets a lot more complicated.

Most of today's dreams though were just running around trying to find. People, places, clothes, suitcases, a part of Australia that isn't trying to kill you, a door that only exists once an hour yet a whole year has passed on the other side, or conversely obviously a door that exists once a year yet has only had an hour, all sorts.

I blame the power tools outside. I don't know what they're doing but my quality of sleep would appreciate them doing it a lot less.

On Secrets

Having watched two seasons of Arrow and one season of Flash
I am really fed up of secrets.

They keep being so gendered too: Must Keep The Secret To Protect Her
(blah)

But they are doing great at show-not-telling us that keeping secrets does in fact not protect anyone, endangers them. And straight up telling us this via Thea etc.

But in between times people keep secrets because they? want? to?

I guess with Slade if he had told them he'd have kicked off a different phase of a fight he knew he was going to lose, but still, you figure out a way. Hi there, your new friend wants to kill us all, trust me. All Ollie needs to say is he blames him for his not-girlfriend, the location details don't have to follow.
(Also I don't know why anyone believed for a minute that he was alone for five years when he had a new tattoo on his back.)

Also Sara not telling her mom she's back because her mom would never stop looking for her, I thought her mom already not stop looking for her? Was the crying supposed to be her giving up? Because ugh.

I also hated the whole middle of the season where women are saying 'huh, this guy creepy' and men are saying 'date him, you need therapy'. I mean, we have a better creep radar than guys. This is known.
But it turns out to be demonstrably true, so, that proves out.

I hate how much gaslighting is involved in this secret keeping bit. If women get suspicious they're just told not to. Blergh.

But then it goes horribly wrong, so, moral of the story, secrets pretty much suck.

Everyone keeps doing this whole moral weathervane thing or a whole dance of disagreeing where they are always on opposite sides of an issue even when that doesn't make entire sense. It's not just because they find out more, it's just because those two characters having an argue is the most angsty. Do better.

... this is pretty much all my thoughts on the matter. I thought they'd be longer. But no, secrets are a horrible idea, people need to be led by data not maximum angst, shows should do better.

I have watched Arrow season 3 up until Barry visiting
Barry telling Ollie he's full of crap is the most satisfying thing I've seen in seasons
