Sep. 25th, 2018 04:25 pmCleaner Day was achieved and I did one laundry
but my resolve to not play Sims lasted only until I wondered if I could make Flash and Reverse Flash in it
(more or less yes, and they're currently very happy together).
... the Scientist career seems interesting so far. I have a Cold Gun and one I upgraded to Transform Objects, so that's taking up a lot of time. I did not previously know one could make a Cold Gun or obviously I would have designed different characters already.
I have also read a couple short stories from the time travel book, but found less to chew over in them. They still make me end up writing time travel Highlander stories where I save all the people, or Buffy stories same, or, you know, just, generally fixit fic with a time machine. Trouble is I have too much of a sense of plot and character and keep running into the likely futility as several problems would remain even if I warned people. Like, everyone did warn Richie, and it wasn't even the first time Mac had tried to kill him, so what could a time traveller do? Other than take advantage of the thing where almost all weapons are non lethal to an Immortal and just drop Mac down a well again. Which would work only until Richie got him out again. So, you know, problem.
I suppose you could drop him down a well in a different century.
But if you're using the Waverider to get places you also have to deal with the fact that demons do in fact exist and he probably needs to stick around to fight his one.
Ugh.
There is a specific sort of tired that happens because the story stays the same every time you watch it. The ending never changes. You can rewrite it in fic but you know several million people watched the other version and it gets difficult to feel like that's a really effective approach. So there's just the sad version, where bad guys stay bad, and good guys don't get criticised unless it secretly wasn't their fault, or it's some kind of dark future them doing even worse things than usual, or they just... go cyclical on their personal faults. Bad guys are cyclical too, there's the part where they get a chance to do better, and then the part where they fail and or die. Mick's doing pretty well, so there's that, but it's a version of pretty well where he's lost his partner and is miserable and drunk a lot, so, you know, that's an issue. But he's getting a better story than usual, so yaay.
But you watch TV, and the same things happen every time you watch, and it's just... a very particular exhausting. And also sad.
Which is why I keep playing Sims. I realise it's no more canonical than writing a short fic, but, everyone gets happy endings, if I say so.
Also when I build Reverse Flash I can leave out Evil and Mean and just keep Jealous. However unlikely that is. Probably he should be all three. But then there's no room for Genius, which he clearly is, or Geek, when he's such a fanboy he cosplayed into history.
... building characters without their flaws kind of makes things easier, obviously.
I guess I'm real tired of being powerless. I watch and I listen and I read and I just feel like everything happens to and nothing gets done. And there's an obvious fix for that, where I actually write, but playing computer games is easier and gives you little reward noises on the regular. So.
So that was my day.
Tomorrow I should do something interesting and productive as well.
... aaaany day now...
